Really?
That's so weird. I know most schools just get a copy of the PNM's GPAs from Panhellenic and their class standing. We're not allowed to see their transcripts.
How weird.

Its just not good enough. B/c last night around 3 i was told i was released. DG dropped me and i dont know why. I was the same when i first met them... maybe i was just borderline. That is ok though b/c i have the chance to COB... by the way... what does that stand for "something" open bid?
Ill keep yall updated.

it stands for continuous open bidding.
good luck to you with whatever you decide to do

Do not look at snap bidding as a sympathy bid. That is SO not the case...
Also the other girls in the pledge class do NOT know who was snap bidded

VERY good explanation/interpretation of snap bidding! Kudos, Jill!
We never saw transcripts, either - just the GPA.

juliebug, I'm sorry about how your rush turned out but I wish you all the best of luck in finding your Greek home. Keeping my fingers crossed for COB or a snap bid but hoping for the best in whatever you decide to do.

Actutally that is not accurate. If you participate in any part of recruitment and the drop out (even just Open House) you are eligible for a snap bid.
However it is very very rare that a women released by all chapters prior to preference would receive a snap bid.

this is what i thought also... i am not evening going to bid day b/c i was dropped by all sororities, so i figured i wouldnt get a bid.
But i did learn from my friend that their having an open recruitment party on wednesday at 7. Not sure what goes on here, what to wear, what to expect, how long it should last, how long i should stay... etc... and if i got dropped for my GPA before, wouldnt it mean that my GPA still wouldnt get me in through COB or what?
Im a little confused

That isn't true at all schools - if you drop out of recruitment when you were invited back to a house, you are more than likely not eligible for a snap bid.
However, if you are released from all houses, this is a different story.

While it is not an NPC Unanimous Agreement, the Greenbook states:
"Resolved, that a rushee who withdraws from the formal membership recruitment process before the signing of her preference card shall be eligible for Snap Bidding and Continuous Open Bidding"
Page 63, NPC Greenbook 13th Edition
NPC asks that perspective member not be penalized for withdrawing from formal recruitment, whenever in the process that occurs. If your campus is not following this recommendation you may want to contact your NPC Area Advisor about changing your Panhellenic recruitment rules.

My campus doesn't have Panhell - so not a problem! I was speaking of other campuses where I know houses will not snap bid you if you dropped out of rush. But since julie didn't drop out, this isn't an issue for her!

I misunderstood and messed with my explanations. Slap me!
I stand humbly corrected

The only problem here is, I have heard that some chapters are dirty rushing by telling girls to drop out and they will COB them right after formal. These are chapters that will easily take quota, but can take a few extras for ceiling numbers. Great for the girl and great for the chapter, but not good for the chapters who DID invite the girls back and made room at their parties for them.
Personally I think a PNM who does this assuming that whoever told them they would get a COB, is crazy since they have no guarantee of what that chapter will do after formal, but I hear it happens.

the GPA requirement for recruitment i believe only applies to formal recruitment. i could be wrong, but COB is a whole different story than formal. it's more relaxed, the chapters (usually) don't ask for your grades/GPA in advance, and it's as a whole a lot less nervewracking.

My chapter checks official gpa's with the university during COB we do not hand out bids to people who are below our gpa requirement, but that may just be us
