My Rush Story...
Hey Everyone!
Im so glad that i was refered to this place by Jill1228 (i cannot thank you enough). I go to the University of Montevallo (a small school of about 3000 students), and the sororities there are (there are roughly about 100 girls rushing): *Alpha Delta Pi *Alpha Gamma Delta *Chi Omega *Delta Gamma *Phi Mu I am so very nervous about going through with recruitment in 2 days (starts on Thursday). I have always wanted to rush, but i went to a Community College for the first 2 years of my college life, and as we all know, there are no sororities/fraternities there). Then i transfered to a big Uni. and i hated it. Then i made my way to UM Fall 2002. I wanted to rush then, but i just wasnt ready... so now im worried that i might have 2 things against me: 1. I am a Junior 2. I am Married I might have some doubt, but im trying to stay optomistic since i know some juniors have rushed and gotten bids and even one married girl that i know of. Anyway, tonight we have our last meeting before rush, kind of an orientation type thing. Thanks for listening! |
Best of luck! :)

Good luck! Jill1228 is a sweetie. She'll steer you straight:)
Have fun... Erica |
Ive got a question i forgot to post earlier...
Is it common at most schools for Freshmen and Sophomores to get higher points than a Junior, or is this just a sorority/school preference? |
Good Luck Juliebug !! :D
|
Best of luck juliebug! I don't know about all schools giving more points to freshmen/sophomores....I think it might be a larger issue with larger chapters, but that's just my (underinformed) opinion.....I went to a university with about 3000 undergrads, and there were a number (small, but there) of sophomores and juniors going through recruitment....I was one of them, and it was the best decision I ever made!

Best of luck during rush juliebug!! :)

Polarpi - thanks for your input... i was figuring it might be different with larger schools... i just wasnt sure. |
Power to the Juniors!! Rock the Rush!!!
Hehehe, anyway on a more serious note. I think my plan of attack to dull the possible "stigma" of being an upperclassman is to emphasize that I know what I am getting into: as in the ways of balancing school and the sorority. I plan on graduating 3 years. And in those 3 years I will definately make the absolute most of my time in the sisterhood because my time is so precious. Good luck with everything. |
Julie!
Hey baby! You started your thread while I was at work. Glad you found us here! Cause when you posted on the other board, you didn't get that much positive feed back... :( I was like Step AWAY from the HATER-ADE! I think things are very different with smaller schools and schools that don't have a large Greek System. Make sure you do your homework on each org. When you finish each rush day, sit down for a few minutes and take notes... As for the rush thread name each house something...avoid using names. Let me find some threads for you to do homework on! |
Oh yeah we are a bunch of rush thread hos!
(Tapping arm to find a vein for the next rush thread fix) |
Erica you are too precious!

Hey girl!
I knew one of our LC's was from there a few years ago- her name is Kelly Barry and I loved her. We wanted to keep her, we even tried to hide things from her so she would have to come back! :) She loved her time in AGD and from what she said about the campus it is a great place and beautiful! I can't wait to hear your story. Oh, and as for the junior and married thing, I know we had sisters that were married when they pledged and they were TREMENDOUS assets to the sorority! Ohh, rush threads, why must you be so addictive!? |
