I just thought this was interesting....
Things Jessica doesn't want people to know:
*Nick enjoyed the pleasures of groupies while on tour.
*He had a very nice time with another woman at his bachelor party the night before marrying Jessica.
*She often will roll her eyes at Nick's fans when the cameras are not around.
*When Jessica and Nick toured together the backstage area had to be cleared of black females because Nick's ex girlfriend was black and Jessica was concerned that he'd be enticed again.
*Jessica's Dad was a youth minister in Dallas and Jessica was the queen bee of all the youth cliques at the church.
*She likes to get something for nothing. Witness the way that she encouraged her sister in law to 'put the leg back on the crab, that way you won't have to pay for it' when they were out at a restaurant. Also, read this quote about her early life in Dallas, "We didn't have a lot of money, but I never wanted to wear the same outfit twice to school, she says. "So we would go and buy clothes for the entire week, keep the tags in them and take them back." Nice attitude, huh?

My thoughts are:
She is dense but not as dense as she lets on. I believe she is used to being the center of attention and does some of the things she does for attention. If you notice sometimes after she says or does something she'll kinda wait for her audience to react.
Her husband seems like such a sweety and sometimes I feel bad fo that man!

They are making money with this little act. So, Jessica is not dumb. She's making her money and using her married status to set her apart from the rest of the young blondes out there.
One thing I'm surprised about is that Nick and Jessica don't seem to be practicing any kind of religion. For someone who grew up in church and got married before having sex, it just seems like she would at least say grace before eating a meal, or not curse on tv.
Just my thoughts...

Very good point. Also, I did not realize just how much older Nick is than Jessica.

I do not think Nick seems like a sweetie at all. He's a meathead. He likes his wife pretty, submissive and dependent so he can feel like the big man. If he didn't like her like that he would not have married her.
Maybe it's because I've seen that attitude before, but he totally strikes me as someone who picks a mate he can feel superior to.
I was surprised at how little religion is present in their home as well. It could be editing, but there isn't any trace of their affiliations in their home, which is rare for non-rebellious PK.

My friends and I said the exact same thing. It seems as if he get pleasure out of babying her and explaining things i.e. rigor mortis. Did anyone else catch when she said that Nick didn't want to marry her until she became more of a woman or something like that, so she took up a cooking class?

Big ole cosign here.
Even though both of their careers aren't skyrocketing it REALLY kills him that she gets more money to do videos, played at TRUMP, etc. It's all over his face.

He was also miffed that when they were greeted in NY at the hotel it was "Ms. Simpson and Mr. Lak-ey"
Not only did they mispronouce your name, but your wife didn't try to correct them or ask to be refered to as Mrs. LA-shay ----on your anniversary!!!!
Their show is a classic MTV train wreck - can't stand it, but can't turn away!

I think that helps to explain the age difference. I think that he purposely sought out someone who was much younger than him so that he can always be in an authoritative role. Most of the time when you see a 30 year-old and 23 year-old together, the older person comments on how "mature" the younger one is. Not with them. He chose this immature young girl so that he could guarantee himself at least one person that he can feel superior to.

i was reading over the weekend that one of the assignments on the apprentice was to promote a concert by her, or something along those lines. i'm assuming that is why she played at trump.
i could have heard this wrong, but when they were walking to the casino and she said she forgot her atm card and she would have to go back and get it, did she make a comment to nick along the lines of "well, i do have more money than you". because i don't think that putting that right out there can be any good for a relationship.

Nick and Jessica to develop TV shows
'Newlyweds' co-star Nick Lachey follows wife Jessica Simpson in signing ABC deal
More Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica News
By Steve Rogers, 01/28/2004
What do you get as a wedding gift for the celebrity couple that has everything? His and her development deals at ABC apparently.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Newlyweds co-star and former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey has followed in the footsteps of his more successful wife Jessica Simpson and signed a development deal to star in a comedy or drama pilot for the ABC Television Network.
Lachey's deal follows a similar November 2003 announcement that Simpson, in addition to agreeing to star in a second season on MTV's Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica unscripted television series, had entered into her own development deal with ABC to star in a scripted comedy series.
Her husband's deal, which reportedly could reach into "the high-six figures," also includes a feature film option and encapsulates a recently announced variety special that the couple is doing for ABC.
During the November announcement of Simpson's deal, ABC President Susan Lyne was quoted as saying "we're looking forward to developing the ideal showcase for her considerable talents" while her father and manager was also announced as one of the executive producers of the then-unspecified sitcom project.
"This deal is a great and logical next step for Jessica and the evolution of her career," Joe Simpson stated at the time. "We're very happy to consider ABC part of our professional family, and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with the network."
Given the involvement of Lachey's wife and father-in-law with the ABC sitcom, the natural assumption would be that the domineering Joe Simpson decided to "keep the show in the family" and add Lachey to the cast, however, according to an MTV report, Lachey's show will be separate from his wife's, although it could air on the same night.

being a p.k. myself, i kind of think jessica is kind of rebelling and trying to get out of the religious mode. i know that b/c my dad is a minister, people assume that i'm going to be holier than though. i have strong faith, but i'm human, as well.
i was watching vh-1 driven on her. apparently, she tried to make it big in the christian music industry, but just didn't cut the mustard b/c her body was a little too shapely. from that, i gather that she might have been kind of smothered with religion all of her life and just wanted to live more of a secular life....
i was wondering the exact same thing though....i guess i just assumed that she was REALLY religious because of her saving herself for marriage and always preaching about her values...but sista kate is kinda wild (drinking, cursing, the partying....)....i guess it's all good, she's young and wants to live her life!!!
also, from reading some of your posts, i do think nick may resent all of the fame jessica gets as opposed to him. to be honest, i had no idea who he was until they got married....
BTW...sad about his new sitcom...good lord!!!
