This is week 6 and I've lost a total of 14 pounds. I was a little nervous with the setback and all, but I've been constantly working in the vineyard.

Thank you LS. I'm no longer a neophyte, we just initiated 12 articulate, intelligent, and beatiful young women into the finest sisterhood this side of heaven. It was hard work, but like all things in AKA-absolutely worth every iota of hard work!!!

Last night, I took out a suit to wear to church today. Well, this morning, I couldn't wear that suit because it was...TOO BIG! I haven't had this issue since EVER! Finally, I'm down a full size. Working out and eating right is working for me.
Thank you Ideal for your encouraging words.
Tenacity and discipline are the perfect ingredients to losing weight!n Keep up the superb work everybody -- and congratulations Namaste!

Way to go!!! Congratulations delph , I know sometimes are easier than others, but I've decided to love myself in spite of ... And that means not beating myself up wen I have a setback. I just "get back up again" like Donnie McClurkin's song goes. I celebrate every pound lost. Because it's a lifestyle change not a quick fix.

Weight Watchers
I know that everybody is a little hesitant with the whole diet fad thing, but Weight Watchers really helps. I've lost five pounds so far. Im excited about it! Plus it really teaches you portion sizes and you get used to eating smaller portions and more veggies/fruits throughout the day. If you have any questions about it, pm me.

Congrats ladies!!!
I love coming in here and seeing all the success. I thought this would be the perfect place to ask a question--I did South Beach last fall (thanks for the idea rhoyaltempest! i saw you talk about it in this thread) and lost about 15 pounds. I know it was mostly fat because my body definitely shrank and I dropped a size (shirts AND jeans ). Well, I fell off the wagon, but the weight didn't come back. Instead of yo-yoing back and forth with that Phase 1, I decided to just try to eat healthy and exercise (which I wasn't really doing before), so I've been doing 30 min. cardio 4 times a week for the last two weeks and I've gained 5 pounds. I've been losing inches according to the tape measure, so that's good, but I can't explain the weight. And if one more person tells me muscle weighs more than fat, I'll scream--I highly doubt I've gained 5 pounds of muscle in 10 days. Any suggestions? I've been drinking water like a fish, so is my body holding onto that?

Hard to say. I think the only way you can truly know what you've gained and/or lost is by having your % body fat taken. That way you can see if you've gained fat. The more water you drink, the less you retain.
I always say focus on the tape measure and not as much on the scale. I mean, is it possible to gain fat and lose inches? I don't think that's possible, but I'm no expert, so I can't really be sure. Where are you doing your cardio? If at a gym, maybe you could ask somebody there? Then come back and give us the answer, lol.

Only way I know how to lose weight is to disicipline yourself. For example I worked out 2hrs a day 5 days a week. One hour during my lunch time and another hour after work. I also added aerobic classes into it as well. That cover the additional hour after work. Oh yeah, don't forget not to deprived your body of eating what you enjoy. That is a big NO NO. Good luck!!!

::sigh::
Does anyone have any good tips of things that they have done that really work?
I've cut out soda, I try not to eat out, I've been doing 30 mins of cardio if not more a day everyday (I'm on day 10) and some strength training. But I don't feel any better.

This is very true. No magic tips, really. Just watch your portion sizes and eat healthy. Moderation is the key. Keep at it; you'll feel better in the long run. When you eat out, make healthy choices. Unless you plan to not drink pop or eat out for the rest of your life, the weight loss will only be temporary. Even if you cut back (which is good), treat yourself sometimes so you won't feel deprived.
I was standing on the bus today and a lady made room for me to sit down. As I squeezed into the seat she said, "You're small enough; I wish I was that small." She made my day. I've been feeling fat lately. And for good reason.

Please read my previous message. It works..I lost 15 pounds in a month and a half. Not to mention you are only on day TEN. Girl you have a long way to go. It takes 3 months to get in shape and 3 days to get out of shape.
