I guess I have a little bit of a different take on the situation. I get the whole "why aren't you married" and "when you getting married" questions alot. Yes I am still single with no children and happy. I am not married because I haven't found a man that can make me completly happy and that I can do the same for him. Right now I am dating someone that is in school (get that JD baby!!!!!!!) and I don't have a problem with him having his space to study or anything else that he needs. I know how important that is to him and I won't stand in his way. But he also makes time for us when he can. True we may not be able to spend as much time together as other people do but I'll be okay. I got a life to live too. Just cuz I'm not up under him 24/7 doesn't mean that he doesn't care or that i don't care. And to be honest he is probably the best relationship that i have had in a longggggggg time. (talking about making a girl smile )

Wow.

Yeah, that is kind of rude, and yet, it may be the truth. What to do, what to do...

Wink rho4life, here's whatcha do......

If anyone else asks you why you're not married, you can either:

1) Recite the first quote to my siggy!!! If they don't understand, then fuhgeddaboudit b/c they just too stoopid to know WTH you're talking about.

OR

2) Tell them that if they're willing to consolidate both of your credit card debt, and still pay for the wedding, then you'll get married.

It's weird b/c I don't go around aksign them about their life choices. The only time I would ever ask someone when they're getting married is when they've gotten engaged. ughhhh

Because I refuse to settle. Some men have some traits that I refuse to deal with "till death do us part".

I think some folks are more in love with the idea of a wedding and getting married than with the concept of marriage.

Plus forever is a long @rse time! I have to be certain cause I'm in it for the long haul. To date, no one has inspired me as such. *shrug*

I used to use the "i'm still accomplishing my goals piece" but now that I've been able to check a few things off of my life's "to do" list, I'm looking around for Mr. Right. To bad you can't schedule love into your schedule.

P.S. I might be a bit leary of committment too, I think

I'm not married b/c I don't want to be married. It's a choice, and I choose me! Some nights I eat a balanced meal and some nights I have ice cream for dinner.

Very Single and Very Happy

I'm proud to say that I am 36, single, and very happy! I have 4 nieces and nephews so I am lucky not to get grief from my parents. (And I'm the youngest). I have a miniature dachshund puppy, so I my mind, I do have a "child". I have seen so many people get married and have kids for the wrong reasons and in the end they end up unhappy.

Great thread!

I have been with the same person for the last 5 years, and I get asked this question A LOT. What makes matters worse is that for this past Valentine's Day, my s/o gave me a beautiful ring as a gift...and people are constantly asking me, "is that an engagement ring...OMGZ ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED??!"

...which I find really odd, considering I am about six months shy of my 20th birthday.

Usually I'm like, "Geez, can I finish my undergraduate degree first?" I'm not even 20, I'm thinking about getting my cap and gown and getting out of undergrad, NOT getting a wedding gown!

When I was single and looking...

Guys would come up to me in their thuggish ways and ask: Where's yo man?

I got tired of explaining why I chose to be single and unattached to ignorance like that. So I started responding, "Where's yours..."

That put an end to it...

However, I was astonished to find out that my G-ma questioned my husband after we got married saying, "So, you decided to stop fornicating and get married..."

So I think men get it after they are married...

Both sides get the children question while they are married and oh, do not let the couple get pregnant and not be married... That would be verboten...
