But to each their own.
Exactly. The way I took it was that a fraternity is a brotherhood of men who do community service, give to philanthropy, etc. whereas a frat is what is shown in popular media. A bunch of guys who fight, haze pledges, get drunk and sleep around. I get offended if someone calls my fraternity a frat, even with the best of intentions. (No offense to those groups that refer to themselves as frats, that's just how I was educated.)

Back on topic, I'm in a fraternity, so I MUST drink (copious amounts at that), use words like "broski", "brah" and "brohan", haze pledges like its my job, hook up with as many girls as I can (especially sorority women) and have an endless amount of Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson and Phish albums.

That's the same way I was taught as well.

I've noticed that a lot of stereotypes of fraternity men are the same or similar to guys that are "bros". The muscular, arrogant guys with their collars popped on the three shirts they're wearing who enjoy sports, chilling, and "bro-ing out"

I actually had to look up the term Guido. We don't have them here in Texas.

lol I had no clue there was so much controversy over the world "frat"... I just think each Fraternity should continue teaching its members to call their organization whatever they see fit.

Anywho....

While I don't think any major is "fluff", we do have a ton of hard-core pre-med and engineering majors (including biomedical engineering, which is pretty much the uncontested most difficult program at the university) who work their butts off to make the grades they get. It really annoys me that people think we're floating through college with high GPAs because we're taking the easiest classes possible.
It's the same way at my school. The Greeks typically always have a higher GPA than the school average. This year my sorority was awarded highest GPA. I hate when I tell people that and they think I'm either lying or we didn't work hard for our good grades. The majority of us are working to earn PhDs and MDs, so it's sad that people don't take that seriously just because we're a sorority.

There is no "controversy" here. Just correcting those who try to push their organizations' teachings on everyone else

Wasn't this from a Youtube video that some fraternity members created, basically making fun of themselves and fraternities in general?

I can't remember the name of it.
