Y'all are bringing back a majorly repressed memory-I now suddenly recall wearing to skit party the horrifying combo of the following (we had winter recruitment):
White blouse (oh it was a BLOUSE for sure)
Preppy print Foulard style bow tie to go w/ said blouse (apparently I thought this would be a sophisticated ensemble ala St. Elmo's Fire's Ally Sheedy)
Some scary vest that allegedly coordinated with the above items
Wool flannel skirt that dropped below the knee
White hose (ok, those 2 words alone should give one hives these days)
Flats
And of course the ubiquitous BOW to hold up my permy big 80s hair
Could you just die to know those clothes had ever been on your body, individually or in combination?????
No, but wait, it gets worse. I was accompanied by my roommate, whose idea of style involved scrunchy socks that color coordinated with every outfit she owned, twistabeads, neon everything, and sometimes Miami Vice style tops. TreSemme hair spray was her BFF.
And despite the scary story I just related, we actually both received bids from the same house. AND are still active in our GLO. Go figure.

My roommate wore the scrunchie socks with her high-top white Reebok aerobic shoes. Remember those!

I had blue a blue spandex unitard, and I wore a pink tee shirt over it, a la flashdance, for my aerobics class. In the mid to late eighties, in the gyms of the San Fernando Valley, spandex and big hair ruled!

Yay for the Go-Go's! And Delta Gamma too, of course. And thanks for writing up such a fun Retro thread!
J Crew has some cute pseudo-Bermuda bags. They don't have the buttons to changes the covers, but the wooden handles are eerily similar. I still have my twisty beads in my drawer, hoping that some day they'll be back in style. If not, they'll eventually be recycled into something more current.

I just had a conversation the other day with a close friend who admitted that, back when she had the body of death at age 19ish (in the late 80s), she wore "to aerobics class" her white spandexy leotard with paint splatter print and her black biking shorts. Scary yet true.
And today I was sitting in federal court (don't worry, I was there as a lawyer not a criminal) when my colleague said under her breath, "Turn your head slowly. Leg warmer alert to your left." Sure enough, there they were, toasting up the gams of some 40s ish gal (and I am close to that age so this is not age-ist). And I'm thinking, oh no honey. A, we don't wear legwarmers to court. AND B, You are old enough to remember them the 1st time around ala Let's Get Physical and Flashdance. So. No.

One of my first roomies would go to class in a leotard with "I Dream of Jeanie" Pants and a headband. She did have the bod for it, but when I think back....eeeeeek!

Sigh...our bods were wasted on flashdance and I dream of Jeanie Pants...I had these miniskirt/matching shirt combos with legwarmers and the SKINNY headbands with metallic braid. Lord, God.

barnard1897, please tell me that the leg-warmer-wearer was a defendant's family member or a spectator, NOT a lawyer...I've seen lawyers push the inappropriate envelope, but that might win the prize.
