I looked in my song book and Sha lala isn't in there....
I used to love that song.... But I only remember the one verse that is posted... I must be getting old.
BTW i spent an hour rereading all the songs.... ahhh fun memories.

Okay...here is one of the verses...does anyone know the others? What I posted before was the chorus. I don't want to give it all away, but I can post the whole song if you want.

Something happened in my life
The day I pledged KD
Something that I'd never felt before
Sisters all together now, as happy as can be
Seems I love KD now more and more

my absolute favorite KD song is "Feels like Home"
it makes me cry every time!!

It feels like home to me
It feels like home in KD
It feels like I'm all the way back where i come from
It feels like home to me
It feels like home in KD
It feels like i'm all the way back where i belong

Shalala

Here is another verse to Shalala:

Always wearing smiles bright and lend a helping hand
Always at each other's beck and call
Loving God and loving life and service to each man
So you see I found a joy in all

Okay, so this is an old question but if you don't know Sha la la the chorus is a much slower version of Bobby Sherman's La la la which you can listen to here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKX_HSbbofg

Then the verses are sung to the tune of Petula Clark's My Love which you can listen to here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDiR3MF_Q5I (wait for the line "Something happened to my heart the day that I met you.")

^^^ Interesting... I wonder if there are two versions of that song (or possibly two completely different songs). The next line I had in mind was, "I love the rose and pearl."

KD4Me, what's the rest of the song you're singing?

OMG! I love the "HO!" I thought it was just our chapter!!! It's one of my favorite things. We go out and dance in the street when we do it. It's so much fun!!

The HO HO was a HUGE and longstanding tradition in my chapter. We learned it on bid day, did it at every Dad's Weekend, every fun occasion, on retreats, big/little reveals, before a big intramural match, whever we wanted to have some fun.

We started out with all of us in a circle, arms linked around shoulders, doing a circle kick dance, like a hora.... How you gonna keep em down on the farm, after they've seen KD? HO HO HO.... etc.

We had other silly or slightly bawdy songs that were always part of the complete "Ho Ho experience". One was, "Let's drink a toast, to Kappa Delt, the grandest girls I know, the fact is notorious, we're perfectly glorious, that's why we love them so, love them so...."

HO HO is tied up with all of my great KD memories. We thought all kd chapters did the HO HO, but maybe it's died out. I know that back in the day, Gamma Theta-Oklahoma (now inactive) and Pi-Nebraska Ho'ed, as did Tulsa. I would love to know when and how it started.

Thanks for the chuckle. Now I am singing all of the songs..

Oooh, the ho-ho! My chapter also ho-hoed like there was no tomorrow. This was in the late '70s-early '80s, but when I returned as an advisor just a couple of years later, the sisters had no idea what it was. I don't know how the tradition disappeared.

SydneyK - I realized after I posted that I must have been quoting the wrong song. I was thinking of "I Love the Pin."

I would love to hear (and see) the ho-ho song. My chapter didn't do it, but I had heard of it when I was in college. My husband heard about it somewhere (he wasn't greek) and teases me by singing "How are you gonna keep them down on the farm?" I can't explain it to him, because I don't know it myself!

The Ho is my absolute favorite! How do/did you guys do yours? After we do the first part (the "how you gonna keep 'em down on the farm" part) we all chant "we are KD" while a senior does a chant/rap thing that no one can understand (it's supposed to be that way, apparently). It's definitely my favorite. We don't do the toast during the HO tho...I know it, but we rarely use it.

What are some of your other favorite songs? I have a few, but I'm not sure if I should post them, since they tend to be rather *ahem* bawdy at times. =D
