Well, we didn't get NYU but there are other schools open for expansion. UCI near me is open for expansion and I found out (by calling the Greek Life office) that no group has been invited to present yet nor has any group been selected. It's still in review. We have a large alumnae group here in California. I'd like to see us at UCI, my little sisters alma mater.

I know it's a long shot, but I would love to see the Beta Kappa chapter at Colorado State reactivated. I think it would be a great addition to the other two chapters in Colorado (Zeta Pi and Gamma Alpha).

BUT-I know ZTA just colonized last year, and I don't think our GLO is looking to expand.

Actually, they are but SK is really selective and weighs the pros and cons heavily of expanding to any particular campus.

why was the chapter at fsu shut down?

I'm curious about the real reason for closing down the chapter at fsu & i'm having trouble finding information about it.

Does it really matter why it closed down? That's a private question that should be addressed to NHQ to prevent spreading rumors and hearsay.

Sigma Kappa has been chosen to colonize at the University of West Georgia, making it the 7th NPC group on campus.

Fantastic! Another Georgia Chapter! Lots of good alumnae support in that part of the world, too.

Ha! We've got to be close to the Kappa Sigma chapter if not. My Nonna sent me flowers for my initiation into ... Kappa Sigma.

I love my Nonna but smh.

I am curious as to why we are choosing such small schools to colonize? Logically, I would assume that smaller schools require less cost to start up. However, you have fewer members to become alumni and support the organization later. I think re-opening dormant chapters is a good idea whenever possible, you have an interested alumni base to help out financially and physically.

Clemson isn't a small school.

There are MANY sororities electing not to even show interest in some really great schools available for expansion (U of Arkansas being the prime example) just because the start up cost is so enormous nowadays and the blowback if the chapter isn't a complete hit (not just doing well, but better than well) can potentially cripple a whole organization.
