You need to ask my friends about the time they couldn't get me off of the bus in New Orleans because I just wanted to listen to the Cajun bus driver talk. Oh my......

I made out with this girl from Australia last night, her accent drove me CRAZY. She was a pretty cute girl but not really the type of girl I would go for if it wasnt for her accent.
Is an accent a valid reason for dating someone?
I also love southern accents... whoa

I don't know man. I'm not sure if you can put it in the same catagory as " shes ugly but she has nice body so what the hay".
Don't date her. lead her on. Make her think you want her. Use and abuse it baby. Make her wild for you.
Yeah!

As far as the US goes: I could listen to Boston and New York City accents all day.
Out of the States: British and Irish.

I actually was on a bus tour in Ireland for three days with a young Irish guide speaking the entire time, so I hear ya! I could have listened to him forever! I actually looked into teaching there just so I could stay in Ireland...no, not for him. I was just enchanted by everyone!
I didn't even know my accent existed until I moved. I have to watch how I say things since I consistently had students spell words wrong on spelling tests. (Pondering as I grade: why did half my class spell "bother" with an a instead of an o?) People hear the Chicago obviously, but it's enough removed that people think Wisconsin or occasionally Minnesota.

Mmm I love a good Southern accent.
ETA: I agree; Irish ones are really nice too.

I love accents as long as I can understand what is being said. For example, I do enjoy a good English accent but yesterday at Disneyland, a lady w/a very thick English accent asked me a question. I couldn't understand her & didn't know what she was trying to ask. On the other hand, listening to Clive Owen just makes me weak in the knees. He's just yummmmmmy!
I am Latina (I dislike the term Hispanic) but can't stand to hear Salma Hayek speak. Her accent is like grating fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I also can't stand the New York & Boston accents. They drive me crazy. Just enunciate your R's people! It's not that hard. Southern accents are pretty nice & I never realized I had a California accent until I was in Hawaii & people that heard me speak could tell I was from California. I don't say words like dude, whatever, and all those other words people assume are a staple of the California language.

Mmm, accents are lovely. Being in Scotland, of course I am partial to the Scottish accent - and I prefer the Highland accent (especially from near Inverness) to a more common Dundee one, which can get a bit grating whilst on the train to Edinburgh.
English accents are usually nice as well, I quite like the greater-London area accent, Midlands, and the posh accent that knows no geography. I'm not really fond of the Geordie accent though from the north - I'm not sure what it is about it though.
Northern Irish and Republic of Ireland accents are lovely in any form.
Hmm, as far as other accents, I do like French (and Quebequois), and New Zealand, though it depends on the person and their intonation.

I can tell when a person is speaking German and they're from Switzerland, rather than Germany or Austria. Swiss-German is a bit more throaty and "gutteral" somehow. You just have to know, that's all. cashmoney is right: they do sort of sound like they are "hocking a loogie at you" (lovely....)
And yes, Germany has different regional accents, blah blah blah, but I won't get into that right now.
YES: Australian, British accents, Southern USA (as long as it's not too "Deliverance"-esque")
NO: Irish, Eastern European accents, South African accents

Yeah, I dated a Northern Irish guy for 2 years, and his accent was lovely...too bad he was a $hitty boyfriend, though. Ah, but all those lies and empty promises sounded beautiful coming out of his mouth...

My man is from Pakistan.....I hardly even notice that he has an accent anymore. He's got a really deep voice, though, which is fabulous. And the way he pronounces certain things......nice.

Boston accents and Australian accents make me weak in the knees. Southern accents and British accents really don't do anything for me at all. I don't really encounter any kind of accents though around here, except for some people who have that bootheel/hoosier accent...not a fan of that either. My friend John has the most random accent ever, I don't even know how to describe it. And he was born/raised in Columbia, but sounds like no one else around here...he has the hottest accent ever though. Odd.

Southern US accents don't do a thing for me, probably because I've lived in the South all my life.
I met a doctor from South Africa whose accent was awesome. Too bad he was too old for me--probably married, has 3 kids and a dog, but he was nice to listen to.
Now...Goran Visnjic and his Croatian accent can turn me on anytime. =)
