Accents. yes or no?

Any one think that accents can make some one more desireable?

I think in some cases yes, i.e. Catherine Zeta Jones.

CUGreekgirl 06-24-2004 07:25 AM

Yes, well at least my southern accent has never failed to work on a guy.

I've known several guys who I've thought were more attractive just because they had accents.

Not that it was my post but this is what occurs to me when I saw it.

What I think a Hispanic accent would be:

Hispanic refers to people whose origin are Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American, or other Hispanic/Latino, regardless of race.
SOURCE: U.S. Census Bureau, Current Population Survey, March 2002, Ethnic and Hispanic Statistics Branch, Population
Division.

1) Hispanic is a broad encompassing term (used today in ways much like 'Asian' is used sort of). So when I read the comment I took it to mean Spanish, Puerto Rican, Latino etc. Which... AREN'T all the same sounding completely but there is some similarity. I umm... mean that in the sense of Australia say is a big place but I could tell someone was from there (or from N. Zealand) probably. Just like I may be able to tell if a person was of Hispanic descent and was born or grew up in N. America say.

2) I also think that fact the original poster used the word Hispanic was a well intentioned attempt to use a term which s/he felt would not offend people who would be grouped under that term - e.g. by the Census Bureau, community etc. I don't think it was remotely an "I hate Hispanic voices" comment which... would be offensive [obviously!]. Just a preference over which accents are preferred. For all sorts of reasons different people grow to like different accents over others. Variety is good.

These are really my opinions, I'm not saying it just 'cause A Random DphiE said Brit accents were good. :)

I'm still lost but I won't turn it into a debate. :D

For me ABSOLUTELY!!!

But only if it's an English, Scottish, Irish, or Welsh accent.

ETA: Australian, New Zealander and South African Accents are pretty nice too.

ZTAngel 06-24-2004 10:48 AM

Australian accents are so sexy.

cashmoney 06-24-2004 10:51 AM

I like German, Swedish, British and Swiss accents.

ZTAngel 06-24-2004 10:52 AM

How do you have a Swiss accent? I thought the Swiss either spoke French, German, or Italian depending on which border they lived closest to.

Oh, yes. I forgot about Romansh. I think it's like Italian with a hint of German.

AlphaFrog 06-24-2004 11:19 AM

I happen to think Spanish accents are sexy, when they're actually speaking Spanish (one more reson why I chose to learn Spanish instead of pushing English on him)...but then again, I'm biased...

rainbowbrightCS 06-24-2004 11:22 AM

accent are sexy... but sinse Im southern, my boy seems so have a Californian accent (which is super funny to me)... and I think he sexy, so I guess Cali accents are sexy...
