1. Alpha Phi Omega, National Service Fraternity

2. By 'new member', I assume you mean pledge.

Our Pledge Pin is a circle with the letter P, with 3 arms with our greek letters on them. Blue and gold.

Our Service Pin is the basic pin of our Fraternity. Similiar to the pledge pin, but the center has the letter "S" in a circle.

Our fraternity badge is more elaborate (and costly), so not everyone gets one. Its available in 'gold kase' and real gold, with and without pearls.

3. There is no rules about where the pin is worn. Near the heart is where most people wear it. On t-shirts some wear it on the collar, some lower down. On polos most wear on the collar, some lower down. Same with dress shirts and the like.

4. Within reason, most chapters require pledges to wear the pledge pin. All part of getting them in the habit of wearing their member's pin.

5. Chapter guards and dangles may be worn with the badge. No way to do so with the service pin. Some chapters also wear something behind the service pin.

6. Never seen anyone wear a 'badge buddy'. No prohibition against them.

7. No need. We have separate rings with our coat of arms, as well as pendants. Even see some wear the key as a pendant.

8. We also have a sweetheart pin, Life Member pin, Torchbearer pin, National Board Member pin, National President's badge (badge done in platinum with diamonds). Some chapters will have a badge for their president which may have diamonds instead of pearls. We have Distinguished Service Keys, but no award pins.

ktsnake, I'm still trying to scare up a picture of the AEPhi badge. If all else fails, I might have to plop my own badge down on my scanner

One more question: Do you have any other "unusual" rules for wearing your badge? For example, a Sigma Kappa once told me that when a current or former national officer dies, they wear their badges upside down for a time (Sigma Kappas, please correct me if I'm wrong about that...) and isn't there a GLO that doesn't allow you to wear ribbons with your badge?

If a sister dies, we wear our badges with a black ribbon tied around it to cover up the "Xi."

We also wear our badge upside down if an active sister of our chapter dies. We wear them for a week, I am not sure if it's national policy but our chapter also wears ribbons with with our colors underneath.

The only time ribbons are worn with the Alpha Sigma Phi badge are on two occasions: the newest initiates wear the badge with cardinal and stone ribbons for three days after initiation, to remind them of the symbolism of the fraternity.

Upon a Brother's death, a square of black cloth or black ribbon is pinned with the badge.

- We have a badge, formal pin, and a new member pin...our name badge is navy blue, has our letters ingraved in it, and our first name under it. Our formal pin is gold with our letters in a row from top to bottom, with a chain and a sapphire pin attached at the end of it. Our new member pin is made up of ribbons of our three colors, navy blue, forest green, and gold.

- Our pins are worn over our heart. I think that if we wear both our name badge and our gold pin, we wear the gold pin set right above the badge. Some of our girls have Panhel and Order of Omega pins, and I'm not sure how they wear those.

Do you require new members to wear their pins at all times?
- We require our new members to wear their pins from 8 am - 5 pm and at all sorority events, such as meetings.

Can you attach anything to your badge? (chapter guard, etc)
- As I mentioned before, our pin comes with a chain and a sapphire pin attached.

Can you use a badge buddy?
- Umm...never heard of this!

Can you make your badge into a pendant or ring?
- I've never heard of anyone doing this, but I guess it could be done if you took it to the right jeweler.

- We have Mothers' and Dads' Weekend pins and lavaliers

We did when I was a pledge. And all times meant ALL THE TIME. Now I think that's changed.

Yes, guards etc

Can you use a badge buddy?
No, they were unheard of back then.

Can you make your badge into a pendant or ring?
No, but you can buy a ring with TBS on it

What other official jewelry does your GLO have? (president's ring, award pins, mother's/father's pins, sweetheart pins, etc)
There are various other pieces of jewelry like district pins, charms, bracelets etc.

Find your badge on a website (Burrpat.com for example). Right click the image. Select "Properties". Select "Image URL" and highlight and copy it. Paste it into your text box. Put the code [IMG] in front of it and the code [/IMG] at the end of it.

For example:

[IMG]http:\\www.burrpat.com\adpbadge[/IMG] with insert the photo.

Fifty Year Pin: The first fifty-year pins, silver circles with red stones, were presented at the 42nd Convention in 1958 to several alumnae who had given significant service to the Fraternity for fifty years or more. These pins are replicas of the pins presented to the six living founders at the Fraternity’s Fiftieth Anniversary Convention in 1922:

When I was in college, several of my sisters wore their badges as pendants on chains. There was a ring into which the badge could be inserted. I never had that as it cost more than the badge itself. When our International Founders died, we wore black ribbons behind our badges for a week.
