Where was the first flame? I wish people would stop making comments and then verbally preparing for some kind of backlash. You did that in your OP and you keep doing that. Own up to what you want to say and stop labeling the responses to your posts as flames. People...are...responding...to...you. If you don't want responses to your posts keep your opinions to yourself or private message them to someone who you know agrees with your every word.

What this thread is lacking, however, is the OP telling us how many PMs she got in support of her thread. That's a classic rule of these kind of threads that can't be ignored.

I always have to chuckle when people say how "hard" this board is for newbies. They obviously don't post on TV Without Pity, or a host of other sites.

You talked about how someone (I'm assuming from Texas or who has a chapter of their organization at Texas) was able to pick this young woman out in the crowd during recruitment. Here's my question: Doesn't that concern you on the part of the mother's lack of discretion, in the least? I have no clue who you are talking about or what really happened---you aren't telling us everything---but, if a PNM is that discernable from the rest of the crowd (UT has TONS of PNMs going through), then that's a problem.

Sure, there are crazy people who lurk, sock-puppet, troll, etc. The truth is that you never know who is on here. As Drolefille stated earlier, many of us have people from our Inter/National headquarters on here (though they may not post). I'm sorry to hear about that young woman's recruitment not working out for her but, maybe you should be pointing the finger at mom who gave away so much information that she was easy to spot. If anything, that is a potentially dangerous situation that you are giving up so much information about your child or loved one that strangers on a website can pick them out of a line-up.

So, stop yelling at those of us on GC that don't go looking to ruin someone's recruitment. Instead, start looking at the poor behavior of some of the parents who feel the need to disclose so many details about their child on an internet forum.

People get bashed for withdrawing BEFORE PREF while in the same breath bitching about being dropped by the popular chapters.

I have never seen a rushee claim she dropped because she was dropped by the popular chapters.

Now, I haven't read every thread, so I could have missed one or three, but most often she claims she didn't feel a connection with the chapters she ranked low, and GC women to whom she comes for advice make the value judgements.
