Please keep us updated and know that your roommate issues are not uncommon. My freshman year roommate and I were like oil and water. By the end of the fall quarter (we had Fall, winter and spring back then) we could barely stand one another. Luckily she wen't home every weekend and then would up transferring at the end of Winter term and I got a wonderful new roommate for the last term! Good luck to you!

Pref is in a couple of hours, no phone call. Which is good! However, it doesn't mean I won't get one.
(Do I overanalyze this? Oh yes. It's amazing everyone else thinks I'm calm!)
Also, it is REALLY difficult to shave your legs in the tiny dorm showers. Now I have BAD bazorburn on both legs and I smacked my head on a shower hook, only minor bleeding.

FloridaTish - I hope my situation doesn't turn the same.

eta - I texted my group leader asking what time to meet and she replied so I'm going to assume I am not getting a call today. =)

Learning to shave in the dorms is a rite of passage

Good luck

I had a really nice time tonight, I didn't expect to cry, but there was a tear or two that was shed.

Shaving in the dorms should be an olympic sport or prison camp torture.
Damn. Right in the middle of typing this the fire alarm went off and I lost my focus. At first we thought it was a radio or TV show, nope it's a fire alarm. It's pretty quiet. We all trudge outside. There was a ton of lightning out there, I'm not sure if it was really all that safe. We went back inside after a few minutes, the building wasn't on fire or anything. I'm not sure it was even a drill, someone probably just can't cook. Odd, normally the alarms cheer for me when I cook!

Of course, I'm still paranoid of getting the call on bid day.

Tree pose in yoga is great for shower stall leg shaving.

Haaaaaaah! There really isn't room to even do that! (I'd probably fall anyway.) We have a shower, then a small section in front with a bench, I just try to prop my leg on the bench. Beats just a teeny shower space.

Today is Bid Day! Of course, I'm still fretting internally about not getting one! I have hours left! Hopefully class will take my mind off of it for a bit.

I got really stretchy from propping one leg up on the wall freshman year. Plus I have much better balance on one leg than the other, so my left leg was always covered in nicks. Dorm showers really started my current habit of just shaving the ankles and knees and running the razor quickly over everything else. I miss a lot of spots, but whatever. By the time they're close enough to realize that, I've already got 'em hooked...

I just stopped shaving altogether, and that worked pretty well for me.

Hope everything works out for you tonight.

If you have a bad razorburn, try babypowder, works like a charm! Happens to me all the time.. (I live in a dorm with a LOT of student so we have to shower and shave before the hot water runs out), and babypowder always helps to keep my legs presentable

Good suggestion, I'm going to try that, too. I'm anal about shaving so I shave every day year round and since I'm running late just about every morning I end up with bad razorburn some days.

It's awesome how internet threads evolve.
Disappointed in my roommate's attitude, a few roommate stories, LOTS of nerves about recruitment, to razor burn, to how to care for razorburn. =P

I was scared when my phone beeped and I saw it who it was. I was going "But...but... a phone call would have been nicer! " then remembered I texted her first and then I actually read it.
