I am a year-long volunteer. I recognize that I'm paid (peanuts, mind you), but I am still a volunteer working 40 hour work weeks. A little bit of recognition would be nice instead of throwing me under the bus every chance you get. ARGH. Only 3 more months.

One of my fellow supervisors (there are 3 of us but one was far out of town for the week) had a death in their family. She called in upset, and I called our boss who had the day off to see if she could come in and pick up her shift (this is a retail establishment, so you can't just call off, someone has to cover for you). I must say, I've been doing Renaissance stuff for awhile now, and there is some crossover between genres, but I still really don't "get" cosplay. I just don't.

Actually (don't kill me Jess) I think it is somehow Renaissance related, but she was going on about how her hubby is an officer and has to have an impressive costume and she can't sew. I don't care if you have Barack F'ing Obama in your house, you don't do that to another human.

LOL. There's a reason why people who are not actually rich or very good seamstresses chose to stay away from noble characters...their garb is a pain in the ass. And what's even lamer is that Pennsylvania RenFest season doesn't even start until Fall. Unless she's doing Spoutwood Faerie Fest, which wouldn't make sense either. What a sad excuse for a person. But, there are those in every crowd.

I have never met a more socially awkward person in my life, and I've done Quiz Bowl before. You haven't noticed how people suddenly have things to do every time you come to talk to them about some random thing that they aren't interested in? You haven't noticed how your entire row wears headphones (yet you still try to talk to them)?
