That might be the only responsible thing she did - the judge was hard on her about not having a California license yet.

LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears has received a California driver's license to comply with a court order in her child custody case, a state official said Wednesday.

The temporary driver's license was issued late Tuesday in Santa Monica, said Mike Marando, deputy director of communications for the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

"She has completed her requirements for a driver's license," he said.

Among her recent problems, Spears was charged with misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run and driving without a valid license for allegedly crashing into a parked car in August.

Monday's court order to temporarily surrender custody of her two sons to former husband Kevin Federline came after the 25-year-old pop star failed to produce a California driver's license and allegedly missed a drug and alcohol test as ordered by the court, said her lawyer, Sorrell Trope.

A hearing was scheduled later Wednesday for more custody proceedings between Spears and Federline involving their sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

One thing that always crosses my mind when I hear of all of her stupid people tricks is, "what does Justin TImberlake think of all of this?".

He was able to lead a relatively normal life with Camron Diaz by staying as far away from Hollywierd as possible. He even lived through the Wardrobe Malfunction, without it becoming more than a water cooler story.

Not that the paparazzi left Justin and Camron alone, but we didn't hear about them daily. However, neither of them pulled the stunts that Brit or Fed Ex did, nor did she pull the diva act.

/slight hijack/ At the height of the Jennifer Lopez/Ben Affleck obsession, Ben's bff Matt Damon was being interviewed on a radio station here in Dallas. The DJ made a comment about Bennifer always being in the press, but you rarely saw Matt in the tabloids. Matt's reply was that it wasn't that hard to avoid the press and tabloids. He said that people know where the papparazzi (sp?) is and that it is actually quite easy to avoid them.

While it is kinda funny, you can't help but feel bad for the dogs. I mean, if she neglected her kids, what makes anyone think she's going to give a flying squirrel about her dogs?

Ohhh, my gosh, I'm just catching up on all this. What a mess. Seeing those pictures of her (I couldn't get the video to play of her getting taken out on the gurney) I really don't think this is any kind of p.r. stunt, that girl is MESSED UP. And those poor little boys, especially that little baby. The article said she locked herself in a room with him and the police had to "come through the door." Can you imagine how terrifying that must have been for him? You know she was probably yelling/screaming her head off (and probably peppering plenty of profanities about), then there are loud male voices outside the door and then they bust down the door to get in and grab you away from mommy (insane though she may be)??!??? Yeah, not TOO much scarring going on. Thank goodness they're still so young, but this will affect them. And like someone else pointed out, every single second of this is being documented in print, video and pictures. They'll never, ever escape it. Hey, good luck with that baby-thing, Jamie Lynn. GREAT family fold you're adding to.

Most hospitals have an involuntary hold of at least 72 hours, after that, if you are not a threat to self or others, then you can be released.

i think it's all so sad... her THIRD lawyer quit. she lost all visitation.

i know lots of people said this awhile back, but really, after this, there is no bouncing back. i doubt anyone will ever see her perform live or have new cd's ever again.

I would not wish anything bad on her. Still, she has lost her kids and has completely fallen apart. I hope she is able to mentally bounce back for her own sake. At this rate, it seems like the next major news story will be something really bad (i.e. fatal).
