AL MVP: Brett Boone. He's kept the M's lineup going, even while Ichiro has struggled. He does it all - hits, hits for clutch, plays very good defense, even runs well. Nomar and Frank Thomas have been very good, but I'd give it to Boone.
NL MVP: Barry Bonds. He's carried that lineup, without him they just aren't the same. Pujols (my preseason pick) has been amazing, but take Bonds out of the Giants lineup and they're a completely different team.
AL Rookie of the Year: Rocco Baldelli. Matsui has been great, but he's NOT A ROOKIE. After playing all that time in Japan, he's a bona fide vet. Baldelli has been the very good at his first shot in the bigs playing on an awful Tigers team. Jody Gerut has had a good year too, but I'd vote for Baldelli.
NL Rookie of the Year: Brandon Webb. He's helped carry the Arizona rotation while Randy and Curt were hurt. He's been consistently solid all year, he gets my vote.
AL Cy Young: Roy Halladay. The Blue Jays are out of contention, but he's been sick, no doubt in my mind he should win it. Pedro and Esteban Loaiza have had very good years, but Halladay has been the best.
NL Cy Young: Mark Prior and Eric Gagne (tie). You can't ignore what either of these guys has done this season. Prior has been overpowering as a starter, Gagne has been unreal as a reliever. I truly think they should share the award, but I'm guessing Gagne will get it.
Those are my picks...we'll see.

Quick correction on Rocco Baldelli: He plays for the Tampa Bay Rays. He's a better choice than Hideki Matsui, who is actually a veteran. Then again, we saw Ichiro get ROY, so there's precedent.

Go Royals too!!! Even though they are eliminated, I am overjoyed over their year. Hell really would've frozen over if the Red Sox, Cubbies, and Royals all made the playoffs.
And now for my picks -
AL MVP: Has to be A-Rod. No player is anywhere near him in terms of his value to the team. Texas would be in the same boat with the Tigers (even though they aren't far off) without A-Rod. And he's had an "off" year this year.
NL MVP: Bonds. No question whatsoever. Pujols is close, but he has Rolen and Edmonds with him. Bonds is the Giants.
AL Cy Young: I will also go with Halladay (as I predicted at the beginning of the season).
AL Cy Young: Have to go with Gagne for being automatic this year (except for Hammerin' Hank at the All Star Game!).
Al ROY: I still think Matsui will win in because of the fact that he plays everyday for the Yankees. He may not be as good as Baldelli, but still.
NL ROY: Dontrelle Wills fo sho. No one saw him on the radar screen this year and he is a definite phenom.

good picks, deuce - i like most:
AL MVP : should be A-Rod . . . but I'd bet it's either Boone or Tejada (dark horse, been soooo hot)
NL MVP : uh, Bonds? Who else?
AL Rook : gotta be my boy Angel Berroa - just look at the numbers! the kid's sick
NL Rook : Brandon Webb - might have been cy if he'd played all year
AL Cy : should be Pedro by the digits, but Halladay will win b/c W-L is more important to voters
NL Cy : again - should be Gagne, but Ortiz wins on record
PS - Prior wins the next 5 cy youngs, unless wood takes one

hahaha - you should head to game 3 of the ALCS when it shifts from the Stadium to Fenway, and see what the boys at the Cask 'n Flagon have to say.
Yankees are still the favorites b/c they pitch better than anyone, but the Sox have passed them at the plate

Wow...I can't believe I made that mistake on Baldelli, I had just watching the Tigers highlights on SportsCenter when I typed it.
As a baseball fanatic I'm ashamed about that one.

No problem. Man, the Tigers are something else. They play in a decent park, Detroit isn't that small a market. Someone must have messed up badly to see what has happened to them now.

Nice. I've been to many white sox games and have never gotten mugged there before. I've had worse expieriences at Wrigley than the south side.

10 years of bad drafts and poor talent evaluation has doomed this team. I hope they break the mets losing record!
