I am!
I'm in the middle of the Democrat thread right now and getting annoyed . . . and I'm sure the Republican thread will be no better. I was interested in getting some debate going over the Democrats' chances, what they have to do to overcome Bush, which ones people like and which they don't. Instead, all it is is people ripping on each other's political beliefs. What is it about politics that demotes people to 12-year-olds in terms of maturity?

I know I come off as a big Republican, but I feel the way most of you do. Truth be told I lean to the middle. I think that's what is troubling for most Americans. Most of us feel WE aren't really represented. Just shadows of our individual beliefs. Like trying to get a bill passed and all of a sudden, all this PORK gets tacked on. I believe the Dems have a very difficult time with this issue-finding the middle ground- because that's what it will take. By the same token-the Reps MUST get this economy back in line. For the moment, the support is behind Georgie Boy. I didn't say it was behind the Party. I really think the jury will be out till we get closer to election. AlphaSigOU-I share your philosophy-on MANY issues- not just this one.

Whether you're into politics or not everyone should tune into C-SPAN at least once or twice a week and see what our lawmakers are doing. C-SPAN broadcasts the House and Senate live and you'll see the real deal.

Excellent point - for most, it's as close to Congressional proceedings as we'll get. I'm not sure how edited it is, but it gives you an idea on how some lawmakers decide issues that impact our lives.

My father always warned me about two things you should never discuss with people: Religion and Politics because you'll never see eye-to-eye or change their oppinions. Proved to be pretty smart so generally I don't discuss either to length. But I will say this much, I'm Republican and I voted for BUSH and I'm darn proud of him and our troops!

Yeah, well, it would take A LOT for me to post some provocative pictures - LOL!
I appreciate you appreciating that -- okay, that's a tongue twister. I just wish that many of us would have settled down enough to allow each of us to clarify our posts a little better (as heat usually means rush which leads to misunderstanding). I still stand by my opinions and viewpoints, but I should have let things calm down a little more. It really bothers me that I have been called names personally (as in people posting using me as the target specifically), because I am a good person and not disgusting, etc. I would never have spoken a bad word against our country - I love living here too much!
As such, I am off to meet my brother's ship which is returning today! I know that many people will be rejoicing that I am away from GC even for just 4 days (no, you may not take up donations to keep me on a permanent vacation ), but hopefully this will give everyone time to step back from this whole debacle and return to our normally happy GC selves! (Oh, and if you are PM'ing me - I won't have access to a computer, so feel free to fill the box up )

Voting along parties lines is wack. People should vote for those they feel will have the most positive effect on everyone (that is, of course, the idea behind a republic). I believe it was the orignial GW who warned that we should not get entangled in political parties.
Since our current political system is based off political parties anyway, people should at least examine all their options. I tried to be Republican but things didn't work out, lol, so now I'm just independent (after wavering between Greens and Democrats). Bush sucks but big up to John McCain, that's one Repub I have a lot of respect for.
