Wow. This is a toughie and I think all of the bands are great. I love the Stones even today, but I think The Doors legacy was cut too short. Gotta love the Beatles and the Who too.

Do I really have to comment? Without the Beatles, there wouldn't be the Stones, the Doors, the Who, etc etc etc. BTW, I am seriously looking for a MINT copy of this album cover:

The Beatles. It all comes back to the Beatles, and like Honeychile I'll also happily take a mint copy of any Beatles album.

midwesterngirl, we need a Floyd Battle of the Bands then. ELP vs. Floyd maybe?

Pink Floyd before Roger Waters left is my absolute favorite. I still listen to DSotM at least two or three times a week. My cats enjoy it too and get so calm when we listen to it. However, the dog prefers Miles Davis.

DSotM is my "I need to sleep but can't, so pull out the iPod and headphones" album. Love.

Like I told my buddies last night . . . the reason I don't go to church is because most of the Beatles are dead, yet the Who was available for that abomination at halftime.

Their voices weren't the best but I hope they can blame that on an inability to hear themselves or something.

They weren't Taylor Swift at the Grammys horrible--and they are The Who, so.....

My guy didn't know who they were and didn't like the show AT ALL. LOL. They weren't helping my case with every off key note.

Well, half of the Who are dead too, for that matter. Supposedly the reason they did 562 "farewell" tours was to help John Entwhistle out with his $$$ problems...too bad that reason vanished 8 years ago.

I think they've done a lot of damage to their legacy and it's a shame. At least when the Beatles do something sketchy they do it as individuals.

You beat me to it. Only two of the Beatles have died out of four (three of six if you include both Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best).

Heard the same thing about the reunion tours and Entwhistle's money problems. Apparently he had exquisite champagne and priceless caviar tastes on a fine wine and canapes budget. Oh, how I miss him!

I mean . . . I realize Ringo Starr is still alive, but it's pretty clear that the Beatles do not exist in any form that could actually perform, while the Who (obviously) does.

It's more of a measurement of the creative side of things. Remember who played session drummer for the majority of the Beatles' most recognized recordings...
