I <3 the Monkees but were they an actual group? I was told they were one of those groups make for TV (like 2gether from the MTV generation lol)

I think they started that way, but became a "real group" eventually.

Beatles and then the Stones

Love The Who. BTW, did you know that they will be the halftime entertainment at the Super Bowl? As much as I love them, it somehow seems strange to have a British group doing halftime of the most American thing around.
