Hopefully the chapter will bounce back from this and have a successful year. Best wishes to you Nu Beta.

I agree. It's best to let this event fade away in the rearview mirror.

I feel bad for the new Chi O AA members in this chapter. I would feel so self-conscious, awkward, hurt and disappointed if I was in a situation like this. It's not a fun feeling to be made to feel unwelcome, especially when you were super-excited about being somewhere or achieving some goal. Good luck to them and I hope they quickly find those sisters in the chapter who will make them truly feel like part of the Chi Omega family.

I cannot believe Chi Omega (or any other group, for that matter) would summarily dismiss a woman without hearing her side, so if she was released that quickly, we have to recognize the possibility that the young woman admitted to it.

I find it problematic and puzzling that many people who consider themselves Christians are both judging and judgmental. I thought that was one of the main teachings of Jesus Christ - don't judge, forgive, turn the other cheek. Maybe I misunderstood.
Do not kid yourselves or feel superior (addressed to those for whom that shoe fits). It could just as easily have been a Theta, an AOII, a Tri Delta - name any other sorority. Alcohol plus sleep deprivation plus indiscriminate use of technology pluls a whole host of other factors = human failures.
Yes Mary Poppins I'm still tilting at windmills.

I have to agree with you. Every group has a process to remove members. I doubt any allow members to be removed without due process.

From Al.com Earlier today
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Rumors are running rampant that an image using a racial slur in a Snapchat photo sent by an University of Alabama student and Chi O member was altered.
But Chi Omega spokesperson Whitney Plumpton said the original photo, with the slur, is in fact real.
"There is an image circulating, primarily from Jezebel and Buzzfeed, that is not the original Snapchat image," Plumpton said via email Tuesday. "Chi Omega has confirmed the authenticity of the original Snapchat, as well as that the offensive word was also used in the original Snapchat."
The altered image contained the same language as the original Snapchat, Plumpton said.
The rumors the image was altered was encouraged by sites like Total Frat Move and Buzzfeed.
The University of Alabama and Chi Omega national sorority on Monday released statements condemning the image.
UA President Judy Bonner called the behavior "reprehensible" and said the Office of Student Conduct was conducting a full investigation. Chi Omega officials said the woman was no longer a member of the Nu Beta chapter.

Oh, what a shock. This is yet another nail in Buzzfeed's coffin and the dirt on top can't come soon enough.
ETA totally random note: TFM linked to a news report on this and they showed a pic of the Chi O house. They had a sign up that said "front porch down, back porch bound. " Huh?

Maybe it's a reference to the old saying that guests use the front door; but, friends and family come in through the back porch? As in, now that the new members have received bids, they're "family" and are being welcomed to the back porch.

Might refer to their house construction.

Yep. I think you're spot on. That was my "southern" take on it when I saw the photo.

Chi O's house at Bama is, in fact, still under construction. Due to the construction, the front of the house was completely fenced off and hidden during recruitment. Because of this, the sorority had to 'Rush through the back door.' I'm sure the sign was just a clever way to handle this slightly awkward situation for arriving pledges and their parents.

Or maybe they dropped out and just don't want to admit it...
