random stops me:
random: When is the next meeting?
me: We have a health awareness program tomorrow
random: No, I don't have time to go to any programs. When is the next interest meeting?
me: **blank stare. walks off**

I have to laugh because the cousin I was talking about in this thread is now a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. He got himself together between Freshman and Junior year LOL!

Ok this is no lie!!!!! I work in a school. Being the neo that I am, my first day back to work after I crossed I had on a salmon pink blazer with an apple green top, an AKA lapel pin and some "watch out now" dark washed jeans with the coordinating three-inch heels. Oh yeah and a string of pearls to finish off the look.
****I had to give you a visual to go with this story***
So I am sitting in my room doing therapy when the superintendant walks in with my hot mess of a principal who is tossin back hands full of trail mix and speaking with a full mouth. The superintendant notices my pin and says , "Well hello, soror". We greet eachother and that is that...or so I think. My hot mess of a principal says, OH so you are one of "those AKAs" huh? SO what did you have to do to get in? ( Oh wait it gets better) I ignored her question cause I would have said something smart had the supperintendant not been in the room. So she (hot mess) asks very innocently asked, when were you guys founded. I said, January 15, 1908 on the campus of Howard University. (okay now she is the dumbest so i thought she really didnt know) Then she gets all "DP" on me and says "Name the founders!" .. Needless to say, I was speechless because this woman isn't AKA the first. SO I said " Pardon me?" THis fool said, " I am trying to do like they do. Am I asking the right questions? WOW! The superintendant and I exchanged looks and then she rolled her eyes. My soror ushered her out of the room. I guess she saw it on my face.
END NOTE: Hot mess got fired two skee weeks later... I'm not saying it had anything to do with that incident but it does give a great ending to that story.

lol--the guy who said that wasn't talking about me. We were at drill. He said that about another chick, and looked at me to co-sign. I will admit that I'm good for giving people a blank stare though because I gave him one for a sec & told him that mammals weren't cold-blooded.

Well to be fair, I wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed when I was an Interest, hell, even when I was interested.
But at least I wasn't a moron like some of these people are.

Today at the shoe boutique. The salesman was cool as a fan and highly accomplished and community service oriented. So we talked for an hour. But it was preceded by the typical college stuff where he said:
Him: "Delta, huh? Skeewee!!!!...oh...no...that's not what you all say...."
Me: "Nope but I am still amused."
Him: "I kind of wanted to pledge Kappa when I was in college (in the 1980s) until I saw their underground stuff and it was very homosexual. The Grooves ran the yard and I liked their style...but even they had their problems I guess...."
Me: (wondering if I should be my usual smartass self or be cool) "uh...well it's dumb that you were exposed to that underground stuff, I guess, but we have a lot of chapters so what you saw is just that...what YOU saw and what THEY were doing...."
Him: "yeah well that's what THEY were doing back then..."
Me: "uh...what YOU saw is just that...what YOU saw...and what THEY were doing...don't dismiss BGLOs as a whole because of it...."
Him: "well...I guess you're right..."
Me: (blank stare and thinking "NO SHIT, I'm right.") "Yeah so do you have my size in this shoe?"
Him: "I never wanted to get into that stepping stuff."
Me: "Well that's a very small % of what we do...but when you were 19 you were busy admiring the good times the Grooves were having...you wouldn't have wanted to wear a suit, attend meetings, and do community service."
Him: "True!"
Me: "Oooookay...."

Hey! I'm good friends with the Grooves on my campus..
They're a decent group of people!
They can step their asses off. *_* Their "practice" sessions are more like African Warrior Training regiments...

Yeah they are cool and have a lot of fun.
I just found it funny that a man who loved the Grooves' good times (he didn't see their service--I don't know if they even had any service) would then attempt to criticize BGLOs because we...just...step...and that's all we do. Surely people who don't want to step wouldn't want to be members, right?
