Allright, I'm back on. I'm really going to try this time. Mini goal - 5 lbs before convention. Final goal - 15-20 by our first anniversary (beginning of Sept).

I had my third weigh-in tonight and I lost another two pounds. So far I've lost 6 lbs, hopefully by next week I'll be down about another 1.5 lbs because then I can switch weight brackets (my first goal. By my 25th birthday at the end of July I'm hoping to be down at least 20 lbs...so far I'm right on track. I drink so much water people probably think I'm a camel getting ready for a trip across the desert.
Oh, and I bought the "Greatest Hits" cookbook tonight b/c it was on sale. If anyone needs any recipe ideas, etc. send me a PM and I'll be happy to supply you with some low-point meals.

I went to my meeting today and I didn't gain and I didn't lose. I'm truly happy about this as I had a crappy-arse week last week. I ate very bad things and did next to no exercising. This is a brand new week. Like toocute, I have 2 more pounds to go till I reach 5 and get my gold star

I went to my first meeting on saturday.

I haven't been in a few months so I've decided to start up again. I really want to try hard this time to stick to it.
I lost 12 pounds on WW before I fell off the wagon.

Unfortunately I put all the weight back on and a little more .

So, here I go again.

I am not trying to lose weight, but I saw this thread and wanted to make an unsolicited comment...

I think that WW is good for two main reasons.

It promotes exercise, and it teaches valuable truths about food consumption. It teaches you that eating food is not bad, but good, and that it can be enjoyed as long as it is in moderation.

So to all of you out there, good luck and stick with it.

Why did that just sound like a WW ad? Oh well.

Even though it does sound like a WW ad it is true. I have been WW since January and have lost 35 lbs. Lately i Haven't been very good about writing things done and we have eaten out a lot, but surprisingly I haven't gained any weight back. I attribute this to portion control and knowing what I can order at all my favorite restuarants and not kill myself.

In a family where hight blood pressure is a problem it is important to watch our weight and also our food intake. My father, mother and myself have all had a drastic decrease in BP after loosing some weight and also exercising. My mom is almost completely off her Bp medication now.

I started two weeks ago and I've been following it to the best I can and working out 4 times a week for 30 minutes each time. I've also started to drink way more water. I've lost 8 pounds so far and I weigh in every Thursday. I'm eating way more healthly now that I'm on WW. I actually enjoy salads and veggies!

One of my biggest problems is that I am an emotional eater. I eat when I'm sad, when I'm happy, and especially when I am bored.
I AM ALWAYS BORED. My job is a huge factor in my weight problem. I sit all day doing the same thing for 8 hours a day. Because I am so bored I tend to snack, and what do I snack on? Crap from the veding machine. I've been good at following the point system, but I've dipped into my flex points quite a bit and I could easily use them the up before the week is done.
Now, short of quitting my job, what can I do to keep myself from snacking frequently when I am bored at work (which is constantly)?

READ! Or chat with other employees. Of course, I am in a small office with no vending machines (and I don't have change) so I can't really empathize. Then again, if this were my last job... then yeah, I could.

But yeah... pick up some HP fan fic and waste away 8 hours (it's what I do.)

I drink water. I always keep a bottle of water at my desk and if I feel the need to snack I drink a bunch of water because it fills my tummy enough to take away the craving. I also chew gum. I find that when I am bored all I need is the physical chewing motion to make me feel full.

I've been really good about drinking my water, but it doesn't really make me feel full.

I used to go out from a smoke if I felt like snacking, but I'm trying to quit (have been smoke free for 6 days!)

Bring healthy snacks to work with you. I don't know much about WW, but what else can you snack on besides the salty or sweet stuff in the vending machines?

Celery is good for crunch. Add peanut butter or fat free cream cheese for a change of pace. I love cucumbers sliced and sprinked with a touch of salt. Cherry or grape tomatoes and humas is delish! Jello sugar free jello is great too. The South Beach diet allows nuts as a snack and I love almonds.

Of course, even with stuff like this you cannot snack all day, so do some of the things others mention. Drink water, chew gum, walk around the office, chat with a coworker, surf the 'net..... Set a goal for yourself. Put the 50 cents or dollar that you would spend a day in a bank on your desk and then treat yourself to a pedicure or some cute earrings after you have enough money.

I would say try one of these things-
Bring your own snacks so that they are healthier than what is in the machine. I love sugar free jello and it sooths my sweet tooth. When I need chocolate, I count out Hershey kisses and put them in baggies based on points. Then I suck on them instead of biting them so they last longer. Popcorn can be good if you need salty just choose the right brand. When I have been successful on WW it has been because of good planning ahead and less spur of the moment food choices.

Another suggestion would be to try eating 6 small meals a day. This may help you feel more full as well as give you something pre planned to eat as well. People I know who have tied this approach have been very happy with the results.

Good luck!

I chew an insane amount of gum - and I find that it works. I go through almost a pack of Orbit a day. (Plus it might help since you're trying to quit smoking! Good job on that by the way!) I'm most definetely an emotional eater too, especially the bored thing. But I've found that combining the gum with drinking the water - I get all my water that I'm supposed to have for the day in by 3 or so.
I also bring small snacks from home, like other people have said. I generally try for either stuff that I can suck on - like Tootsie Pops, Caramel Hershey's Kisses (2 of them are 1 point), hard candy or I buy those "Just 2 Points" bars. Salty stuff - I bag up a portion of the Baked Lays.
I'm doing pretty well so far using these ideas, I've lost almost 13 pounds in 7 weeks.
