WE ARE PENN STATE

I'm so proud of my alma mater, I mean, everyone comes together for THON and its not just the greeks but everyone who makes THON as big as it is. Now that it is in the BJC, THON should break 10 million in no time.

Thumbs up

Wow! Congrats folks! I would be interested in how the whole idea was developed with the notes and paper.

The History of THON
In an attempt to rebuild its image, the Interfraternity Council started Dance Marathon in 1973. At the time THON was a competition that split proceeds between the dancing winners and a charity of the year. Right around the same time, an organization called The Four Diamonds Fund was starting in Hershey, PA with the aim of helping all children who were diagnosed with cancer at the Penn State Children’s Hospital. In 1977, with the competition aspect of THON on its way out, THON donated to this little known fund. In 1978 the partnership with The Four Diamonds Fund was made permanent; the rest, as they say, is history.

Lots more here.

*ETA, reading the detailed history proved my fuzzy memory incorrect, I thought it was ASA/SAE that ruled $$, but it was ASA/Alpha Sig, I'll edit my other post, I hate getting old.

Penn STATE, not Penn

Penn STATE, Tom honey, Penn STATE. Cow country. Mid-state. 3 hours from anywhere. Happy Valley. Home of Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions.

Where your good LXA brothers and my ASA sisters came in third among Greek groups, raising $186,641.

I doubt the wealthier urbanites at Penn (in Philadelphia) could even stand up for even 2 hours unsupported, much less 46 hours....unless they were at Smokey Joes, that is.
