Iran Detains British Sailors Off Iraq Coast

Apparently the UK released satellite images showing that their sailors were in fact in Iraqi waters by about 2 miles.

Also Iran said that they'd be releasing the one female sailor out of the 15 held.

I agre with you.
But we have to understand that this is a "game" being played out at many levels.
Most of this is not even "for" us. It is for what has been called "The Arab Street".
Show people in that part of the world that the big guys can be played with and brought to a stop.
Show the Iran is a player and will do what ever it can get away with. Against the Evil West.

I realize that... I guess the people over there don't realize how crappy it makes them look though.

THey are calling for the withdrawl of troops from Iraq (I'll be honest - I'm a little ignorant here, why does Iran give a furry squirrel what happens in Iraq? It's a completely different country) which is what those terrorist groups did right before they behead their detainees.

Yes I do. I'm not a fan of the "war" in Iraq, and a search of my posts in this forum might show that.

I'm not sure why Iran should be "control"ing Iraq... since that's where they want our troops pulled out of? If they want to be all territorial about their water, they should probably take a look at the land borders and realize they shouldn't be trying to control a whole other country. And FWIW, I don't like that we have US troops there either, but we can't just suddenly bring all the troops back and just leave a big mess there. Then other countries would really think we're the Big Bad Westerners because we went in, made a mess, and didn't even stay around to help fix it.
