You do realize Iran is not an Arab country right?

THey are calling for the withdrawl of troops from Iraq (I'll be honest - I'm a little ignorant here, why does Iran give a furry squirrel what happens in Iraq? It's a completely different country) which is what those terrorist groups did right before they behead their detainees.

Barbaric much?

And then they get all pissy that the movie '300' portrays them as a bunch of hooligans.

Hmmmmm

I highly doubt those marines/sailors wrote any of those letters out of their own free will.
Do you realize how our invading Iraq looks to the rest of the world? Its the same political games all countries play, they weight the pros and cons and decide whats in their best interest.

Why does Iran want troops pulled out? Because there is a long and bitter history between Iran and Iraq (please refer to the Iran - Iraq war if you are not too familiar with it), with no US troops they can control the area better.

Also please check your PMs.

Just because Iran is not Arab does not mean that their "PR" is not directed to the "street".

Yes I do. I'm not a fan of the "war" in Iraq, and a search of my posts in this forum might show that.

I'm not sure why Iran should be "control"ing Iraq... since that's where they want our troops pulled out of? If they want to be all territorial about their water, they should probably take a look at the land borders and realize they shouldn't be trying to control a whole other country. And FWIW, I don't like that we have US troops there either, but we can't just suddenly bring all the troops back and just leave a big mess there. Then other countries would really think we're the Big Bad Westerners because we went in, made a mess, and didn't even stay around to help fix it.

Controlling Iraq or at least being able to call them an ally means another country to join them in their "war" against Israel and against the West...

Interesting article about Jundullah, although somehow I dont feel having a leader that was a former Taliban member will help anyone in the long run.

Detainees freed

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/...ors/index.html

I am really glad that they will be released and not harmed... but was it really neccessary to keep them for 12 days?

And of course the announcement was made after 2 HOURS of condemning the west. Nice shot!

Last edited by texas*princess; 04-04-2007 at 01:12 PM. Reason: clarity. the announcement was made that they would be released, but have not been technically freed yet
