She did, I think it was distance/work related at the time. It's just awfully convenient that he shows up to take her to Mtigwaki when he did. He and Paul don't know each other outside Elizabeth, do they?

I can see that, but I don't dislike Anthony. I'm guessing he thought Therese was what he wanted (or the best he could do) and she was the cold hearted bitch that walked out on them. He's been a loyal friend to Liz, and well, he was there for her through the whole trial mess and Paul was no where to be found.
Hurrah, I'm not the only one hooked on comic strips! The past week without my daily FoxTrot fix has been miserable.

I can't believe how many (fellow) nerds read this strip...
I thought that when Grandpa had his stroke, that would be the end of the strip. That the characters aged and she faithfully documented their lives was the selling point, and it's what kept me reading the strip all these years. Freezing them in time just seems like the wrong idea.
Why can't she do what Jeph Jacques does with Questionable Content, where single day can spread out over several months?

Wait - Foxtrot ended its run? When?

FoxTrot has not ended it's run per se, but it now runs in Sunday-only format. If you can get ahold of the 12/27/06-12/30/06 comic strips, they pay homage to the fact that Bill Amend has decided after all these years to cut back and do Sundays only. It's actually quite funny. Caught me by surprise (and saddened me) but I can understand where it gets to be a lot of work and redundant to do daily strips--as fun as they are to read, I can see where it just gets to be too much. Lots of creativity goes into a strip and when you have a daily it's really hard to do it without running out of ideas.
Try gocomics.com; they should have them still.

this makes me upset. life and death is what happens everyday. people fall in and out of love, houses burn down, guys cheat. My grandfather died unexpectedly, but I can't just stop where I am. I understand she's tired of new ideas, but revisiting the past doesn't seem like an easier alternative to me... I have grown up with Elizabeth and now I won't get to anymore! It's not fair. Perhpaps she could make another book with storylines that show the future for the Pattersons and then continue with the pause-time strip as planned?

My son was majorly bummed when he realized that FoxTrot was gone, at least as a daily. I found a FoxTrot calendar for him (discounted since the new year had started, even) so that he can keep reading it.
I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I never read any comics anymore, unless I pull out an old Calvin & Hobbes or Far Side Book. (My son's favorite comic is C&H -- his favorite stuffed animal, which he will sit down and play chess or a board game with, is a stuffed tiger he has had for 6+ years named Hobbes.) Did I grow up? I never meant to!

I totally agree. It's nice to think that Norm is still going in there today and saying funny things and having a beer.
Cathy has so jumped the shark since she got married.

We got Get Fuzzy as a replacement to Foxtrot. I've always liked the comic but it's not the same as Jason and Paige and Peter running around causing trouble.
I wish my paper would ditch Garfield, Blondie, One Big Happy, Family Circus, Cathy, and probably a few others and add Sherman's Lagoon and Frazz and Rose is Rose and Heart of the City. (And others)

We got Pearls Before Swine, and it's lousy.

I like Pearls sometimes, but I don't need it all the time.
That said the Crocs who keep trying to get the Zeeebra to come outside always make me giggle.

Get Fuzzy is between 3 and 5x better than Fox Trot - and Fox Trot was one of the better comics running.

I LOVE MUTTS!!
Not only because they regularly feature squirrels.
We have a comic in our small town paper called REAL LIFE..mostly about a man and wife, once in a while a kid will in in with a parent, but it is sooo true, lol.

Hmm, is it a large comic because I've seen a Real Life comic online that I like.
I LOVE Get Fuzzy, don't get me wrong. But Don't replace Foxtrot with it! (No idea if they're keeping Sunday Foxtrot or not around here)
Mutts is cute, but it falls into my "sappy and I like it once in a while" category. One Big Happy occasionally comes up with a classic moment, but it's usually just Ruthie misunderstanding a word. Even Family Circus has the rare laugh.
