Canadian Comic Strip For Better of For Worse to continue....

but with a twist....

The strip, which runs in over 2,000 papers in North America currently runs in real time. This means that April Patterson, who was born in 1991, is currently 15 years old. However, all will change later this year when everyone will be frozen in time. Do you think this is a good thing? I liked FBorFW because it was different, because everyone got old(er). Freezing them will make the strip just like any other comic strip. Besides, I'd like to see April graduate from high school

Toronto Star article about the strip.

The strip was originally going to end this fall.

THANK YOU! Now if they could just get Liz settled down (and not with Paul, please) I'd be happy.

Meh, it's worked for the Simpsons. Maggie has been a baby for 18 years, and it hasn't hurt that show any.

Lil' Hannah 01-10-2007 09:29 AM

Bummer! I liked that they aged.

Senusret I 01-10-2007 09:33 AM

She should just retire. For Better of For Worse was unique in that the characters aged. Even though I haven't read it in years, I still like it for what it was.

Drolefille 01-10-2007 10:08 AM

I think that it would be difficult to continue aging the family. No one wants to see the parents die, or even grandpa. And how do you follow three families as well as you've followed one?

However I'm not sure that choosing freezing it over ending it is better. Sometimes you should just go out on top (even if I like reading the comics all the time) like Calvin did and Foxtrot has.

That's stupid. If she doesn't want to continue aging them, she should just quit as planned or turn it over to someone else. The whole point of FBOFW is that they DO age and don't just stay still.

I'm sure $$$ has to do with it. Please, Lynn, take a look at the final seasons of Friends, Seinfeld and Roseanne and rethink this decision.

AlexMack 01-10-2007 11:54 AM

Oh god why couldn't it just be cancelled...

I remember the final episodes of all three of those shows and not fondly!!!!

Big finales are lame. Have a big deal at the last minute Maried...With Children style. They betrayed that show, but it was nice seeing Al give Kelly away in the back yard.

FBoFW....should end with the death of the father, but it won't, because

A: No money and
B: fans don't want it.

Only reason A is acceptable [at least to me]

I also would like to see April graduate from HS, seeing how the parents deal with an empty next, and Michael's children grow. Seeing them age and grow is what made it different from other comics.

I just saw the E! True Hollywood Story about the Married...With Children finale. They made the last episode just in case it was because Fox had not decided whether they were going to cancel it. After they showed the final show is when it was announced that it wasn't coming back. And I agree MWC, Roseanne and Seinfeld should have when out better than that.

As long as Elizabeth gets this dating thing straightened out. No more of this Anthony pining for her, and the cop is looking more and more like a cheating scumbag (my mom and I called this when they kept emphasizing how she was going back EARLY and no one was expecting her so EARLY) Time for her to date mr. helicopter pilot man (Warren?)

I posted before I read this morning's strip, and I think you're right. I'm not necessarily against Anthony, but having Warren show up out of the blue is intriguing.

Anthony bugs me. I don't like who he's become even if I can't pinpoint why. Maybe he just reminds me of Christopher from Gilmore Girls! But he's been telling her how much he still cares for her since he got married practically (and even though/if he's divorced now, he wasn't then). I do think it's great that he was there for her when she was attacked (and she'll have to go back to the trial eventually) but I don't like him as more than a friend.

I'm strongly opinionated on my comics ;)

Taualumna 01-10-2007 06:34 PM

But Lizzy has had issues with Warren too, hasn't she?

I don't really like Anthony. He seems awkward to me.
