Unhappy frustrations continue!

I'm sorry to vent my frustrations here, but it's the only place I can be anonymous. I wrote previously about my uncomfortable situation at my house on the Western Illinois campus. I have decided not to deactivate yet, but if this semester does not improve, I'm definitely going to leave. I am not looking forward to returning to the Sigma house at all. Our house has a horrid reputation, and I'm sick of being a part of it. It seems like someone is always saying nasty things about Sigmas, and it's all I can do to keep myself from agreeing with them. Any words of encouragement or advice would be appreciated. All of you girls seems so nice! I wish the WIU Sigmas were the same!

Hey,

I kind of know how you feel. My chapter had a similar reputation a few years before I came here. However, we are now one of the best chapters on campus, and one of the most respected. It takes hard work to change a reputation, but it can be done. Stick with Sigma, at least talk to some other girls about how you feel and what you all can do to change your reputation and other problems you all might be having. It takes a concerted effort, but it's worth it, you just need to have girls make a committment. You seem to have a lot of pride in yourself, and I would bet you love Sigma, you just need to get some help in instilling Sigma pride in everyone else.

Hope that helps,
Courtney

I'm sorry you feel bad, i would think about maybe trying to hang on through rush. during rush you can help your chapter select the type of girl whose attitude could help change your chapter, chapters change from year to year it sometimes takes a little effort to make it happen. Of course no one hear is going to tell you to leave,, it makes any group sad to think of a sister deactivating from an org we love, but the choice really lies with you and how you feel on the inside about your chapter. If you feel you have done EVERYTHING you could to make your time in Sigma rewarding and nothing has worked then it is your happiness at stake. I also think you explore whatever outlets you have to make Sigma more enjoyable for you because you will not have the oppurtunity to join another NPC group if you deactivate.I know that all of us here support you and love you as a sister. Rush can change alot of things and sometimes one really good pledge class can turn a group around. I hope that you find a way to make Sigma a good place for you, please know that I am here anytime you need anything.

In Our Bonds,
Ashley
