I don't take mine to class, but that's because I don't go to school! I do use a rolling bag, and I'll be honest, I'm not sure "who" made it. I was looking for one that had good padding, could handle other things, and was lightweight but sturdy. It's lasted me about 6 years now!

Yes, I did start out looking at the "name" bags, but most didn't have what I needed. So, I just made my mind up that the name that mattered was the name on the luggage tag!

For graduation I got a really nice Kenneth Cole leather computer bag. It has a compartment for my laptop, a compartment for books/papers, and has a compartment for supplies (pencils/pens, calculator). It has a really comfortable strap, it doesn't hurt at all unlike some of the other computer bags I have had. I really like it.

Both my boyfriend and I use manhattan portage bags. I have a smaller one, and use a laptop cover (that also has it's own strap for when I use it on it's own) for mine. He has the "computer bag" with a built in padded pouch for his laptop. They're both really nice, well-made, (i believe lifetime) warranty, etc.

The website is:
www.manhattanportage.com

I've been very happy with mine, and they don't cost a fortune.

Every time I put a CD/DVD in I have to push in the metal on the side so it goes through and doesn't get too scratched. Ugh.

At least my work laptop is normal.

check out Samsonite. they have some great bags with wheels and without wheels. Probably run you about $100--good protection with lots of padding as well as room for cables and other extra space as well

Rudey, my fiancé had an accident with his Titanium and the case was badly dented. They replaced the case since the computer was still under warranty. It sounds very similar to what you described. Maybe they can fix your computer.

I don't go to class but I have a Targus backpack that I carry my laptop (and portable DVD player) in. It's got a lot of room and is quite comfortable on my back.

I bought it at a traveller store in the Pittsburgh airport.
