For those of you who take your laptops to class...

What kind of bag do you use? I am looking for a new one. I have a backpack that has a space for my laptop and books, however, I have a lot of books this semester (I only have 2 classes), and it's getting rather heavy on my back.

I need something that holds my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1200), my various cables, cd's, notebooks and textbooks. Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with the Dell 1200, so i'm not sure how big it is.

I don't know that I have any recommendations, but I feel your pain. First year of law school, especially, all of us had huge backpacks with all of our books, and carried our laptops seperate. Always fun when we all were squeezing on the public transportation in the morning.... i'm still kicking myself for buying a bigger laptop thinking i'd like the bigger screen better.

Starting in second year, I just used a regular ole Jansport one. Those things can taking a beating!

If it really is too heavy, you could get a backpack on wheels. Nerdy, I know, but it can really save your back. I know a decent amount of people who had them.

Let me tell you a story about a young man who loved his powerbook. He bought all sorts of covers to keep it clean and brand new looking. This young man spent 30 bucks on a generic bag from officemax for his beautiful powerbook. One day as he was walking home from a cafe, the metal link that held the strap for the bag somehow broke. The bag fell to the floor. Tears filled his eyes. He screamed an obscenity in his expensive neighborhood and ran home. Upon looking at his powerbook, he realizes that there was now a giant dent in the metal by the dvd player.

Since then, rumors are that he spent some money on a Tumi bag to hold it all together.

LOL! Tumi's are expensive but really nice! I was in a Tumi store in Seattle a few weeks ago. I may have to look into Tumi.

Any more suggestions?

No it doesn't.

b. Limitations The Plan does not cover:

She already has a laptop. She's looking for a good bag for it.

Thank you! I love it when people follow directions....

Anywhoo....

Rudey, I spotted a very nice Tumi in TJ Maxx today. However, even at the discount, it was still a little too rich for my budget. I ended up with a lovely Kenneth Cole rolling bag with similar features as the Tumi for $60. The Tumi was $179...lol

I have a tauris bag, it is cute and stylish and not to expensive.

I have an Icon bag. I got it from Circuit city. It has many compartments, but it isn't too bulky.

In school I used a jansport and i also had a computer one with padding that my Dad picked up at some comptuer nerd store. Now I take my laptop with me a lot for work, and I carry it in a coach bag. I like that it doesn't "look" like a computer bag. The biggest reason I didn't go for a bag with wheels was that I didn't even want to think about what would end up on the bottom of that bag....and then go into my car.....and my home. :(

I wasn't saying just buy a more expensive bag. I just really felt pissed off that a bag's strap would break. It wasn't even the fabric. Literally the metal clip on the strap that connects to the metal ring on the bag just came apart. I got the tumi because it looked pretty high in quality and they come with a lifetime warranty. I figure i will always get laptops but i don't have to change bags you know? lol Anyway good luck with the bag and be careful with it. I now am a spaz and even if it's on my shoulder, still hold the handles also.

I use a Vera Bradley baby bag to carry mine in. A lot of my classmates have Timbuk2 bags.
