Ooh, I have a suggestion... Rex Murphy. Or better yet, Stephen Harper.

I've changed my mind - the award would definitely go to Ben "Mister Jawbone" Mulroney.

Well Rex Murphy did make #10...

Also keep in mind that the Globe did this one back on '04 inspired by the greatest Canadian, so none of the recent crap has been taken into account...

I suspect the accounting of the irritating Americans was in preperation for the Greatest American television spree that should begin in a couple of months or so (at least according to the listing of who bought rights from BBC last year).

So for interest sake here's the 2004 list (no 2005 as of yet):
The final standings in the Most Irritating Canadian (television-related) competition are as follows: 1) The Canadian Tire guy and Ben Mulroney; 2) Shelagh Rogers; 3) Gordon Pape; 4) Paul Martin; 5) Jian Ghomeshi; 6) Sheila Copps; 7) Ralph Klein; 8) The Lakota commercial guy; 9) Don Cherry; 10) Rex Murphy.

How many can you recognize... other than Don Cherry or Paul Martin.
The only person I don't know is Gordon Pape, but the name rings a bell.

I completely agree with number one, especially the Canadian Tire Guy... and I would love to add Stephen Harper to that list

Jian Ghomeshi is Persian. You will not talk about him that way!

Steven Harper definitly should be on that list. So should Nora Young, who used to be the host of Definitly Not the Opera on CBC radio. I can't stand that woman!

I can't really decide who should be number 1. I think it'll have to be a three way tie between these 2 and Ben Mulroney.

Yes, he should. He should also be slapped a few times, one of which is using the back of the hand.

Jian Ghomeshi: I didn't know who he was...I had to Google him to know that he is the Moxy Fruvous guy.

The Lakota guy: wouldn't he actually be American? I thought that the Lakota People were located in Arizona or something like that? <shrug> Or maybe he is a First Nations actor from Canada seconded to do that ad for "Lakota"....after all, it's such a high budget commercial, they had heaps of money to go out and pay for a high-flutin' actor.
