SXSW is only a week long... i guess they could work for the people who put it together, maaaaaybe. the guys who run SXSW are pretty anti-MTV.

i live downtown so im really curious if they'll be near my house. not that it matters, since i'll be up in denton at school while they're filming

i hope they are working in the music scene, because then i'll have a chance of hearing about it! (my dad is a pretty popular musician and i grew up in the music community of austin)

I've never been to Texas but being so close (and so politically-involved!) I'm still partial to D.C. Absolutely AMAZING what they could have done with some of the houses in Georgetown/Adams Morgan area.

ahh one day!

But ya gotta admitt that Austin was the live music capital of the world LONG before SXSW.

Either way, Austin rocks.

I heard something about MTV buying space in Adams Morgan which is a young and hip area of DC. I have not heard any stories of any filming being done though.

great

i think its great that MTV is finally coming to Texas with the RW. I would of loved to see them here on the River Walk in SATown but we all know SA is only a big place to party during Fiesta and Oyster Bake. But Houston is my home and I definitely think there is a lot more partying then SA but one day...it will happen I mean with all the renovation going on downtown Houston is starting to fix herself up. But okies maybe i'll see the cast when I party in Austin. Anyways when do they film the show anyways???

you're being sarcastic, right? liberal??? NO EFFING WAY!! it's one of the most racist cities i've been to in this great state!! i H-A-T-E austin and i feel bad for the token(s) that has to live there. obviously, i'm the minority in my hatred of the town, but i've never experienced austin the way the rest of you have and vice-versa because if you had, humph, you'd know where i was coming from...

a few years ago, i remember hearing that mtv was filming rw in dallas, my hometown. as a matter of fact, and i know i'm admitting a moment of "dorkdom" but i have the rw book that was published after rw seattle and there was an application in the back of the book for the dallas cast.

This is so crazy. I was just saying to my friend the other day that the next Real World should be in Austin cuz it's a college town with a cool music scene, and then this article pops up!

Damnit I should've tried to get on Real World, I think it'd be awesome to live in Texas, even just for a couple months.

As for rumors of DC, I don't think the show would be that great there. I'm an hour away and although I've never been to clubs in DC (I stick to Baltimore when I'm home), my friends have said that some of them aren't in the safest areas. But Georgetown would be a nice place in terms of housing, I just don't know about the nightlife, I think it would get kinda repetitive.

I think a Real World Orlando would be cool, and I like Real World Atlanta, too. Isn't MTV kinda running out of big cities?

no sarcasm. sorry you had a bad experience, but in comparison to most places ive been, especially the ones in texas, austin is very liberal. but then again, i grew up in the more liberal communities of it, so that of course influences my views on the subject.

I live within walking distance of Charlotte, and I gotta say Charlotte would be the worst choice ever. Even though I love Charlotte, you do have to look for a more college town for that age group (even Columbia would be better!). It would be neat to be able to go out and party with them, though!

And I agree, Texas is not the south. It's just Texas. Well, it is the south, and is southern, but not the same way as Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee are!

^ amen, nowhere in NC would be a good choice. it's like saying: hey lets go to Raleigh and film. yeah its the capitol of NC but there isn't anything to do.

i'm sure MTV took into serious consideration where they were going to have their next RW take place. i think DC would have been done in the past few years if it wasn't for 9-11.

and speaking on atlanta, maybe its because i was in the wrong area but i went downtown there and it's a sh*thole. all the good stuff was up in Buckhead

austin is a stroke of genius, if it is true. it's got college, it's got music -- and it's got a texas-size attitude.

I think Austin was the best best in the state of Texas. I know I've always had fun when I was there, I can just imagine the trouble the housmmates are going to get themselves in... plus only a few hours drive from mexico? good times!
