My cat, Ashes (this was many years ago and she now is, indeed, ashes) being the precocious little skank she was, went out and got herself knocked up in her very first heat. She was still a kitten herself! Her sides looked enormous, almost pointy like the ends of a football. Anyway she finally went into labor one afternoon and it seemed to be taking forever for anything to happen. We had read up on kitty labor and had a pretty good idea of how long it should take to see some action. Finally we became worried and called the vet, and they had us bring her in. Long story short, there were only two kittens, they were both dead because she was too young and small, and they had to surgically remove them (and spay her in the process.) No more kittens for Ashes. We were bummed.....being that there were only two, we'd have kept them.
Fun fact....the father's name was Doing. Not as in "I'm doing something right now." Doing.....rhymes with boing. He was a big orange tiger cat.....and a playa at that.
I remember my friend's cat ran away for a few days when she was in heat. She came back, and was knocked up. She had three...two died, and my friend gave the other one way. The cat was really more of a kitten...what a great cat that was.
with roughly a month to go until babies are born, I've made 3 birthing boxes and put them in various locations of the duplex, so she has 3 places that she should feel comfortable giving birth in.
