I cant believe she went and got herself pregnant

So- 3 weeks ago I had a thread that my roommate's cat, Flaquita, had come home after running away 10 days before.
Well- she was in heat when she got out. I've been watching her and reading some stuff on feline pregnancy- and from the position of the bulge in her stomach and the feel of it compared to my boy cat's stomach, I've concluded that we're going to have little ones around Halloween.

The day before she ran away my roommate had even made plans to get her spayed.

Bob Barker is probably upset at us now. :(

Doesn't it take two for a successful pregnancy? ;)

I thought this was going to be another Britney thread.

Awk!! There is NOTHING quite as persistent as a cat in HEAT...!

Well at least kittens aren't hard to get rid of. And it'll probably be even easier at this time of year, considering that it's usually hard to find kittens at any time other than spring!

D'oh!

I'd take a kitty if I could have one. :(

Best wishes for an uneventful pregnancy for your cat, and healthy kittens. You can always have mama cat spayed afterwards.

Please be careful who you give the kittens away to. I've seen too many irresponsible people take horrible care of their animals.

Make sure they go to good homes.

My new kitten, Tolstoy was left on the doorstep of a no-kill animal shelter. He was really a great find for me. He's a solid black full-bred main coon :D

Anyhow, I'd turn them over to a no-kill animal shelter if I couldn't find them homes.

Start asking around right now though.

*nods* The shelter where I got Phydeaux is a no-kill shelter. My roommate rescued Flaquita from a cramped cage at a pet store. Our goal is to find homes amongst our network of friends so that we know the cats will be well-cared for, but if we cant adopt them all out that way, then they will go to the Ames shelter.

Well, congratulations on the upcoming kittens, and as soon as they're weaned you can get her spayed. Let me know if you ever need any expecting-mom, birth or new kitten advice. I took in a pregnant stray last year and went through the whole process. It was AMAZING (and yeah, now I have six cats so that's just great).

Ha. Didn't you just post somewhere else about Casa de Cat Throw Up?

How many kittens is typical for a litter?

LOL yes.

I think 4-6 kittens is typical for one litter.

So for dogs barking is contagious. I know this because I live with two german shepherds and a big mutt.

Is throwing up contagious for cats?
