I used to throw them away immediately after all my finals were over, but when I decided to go back to school, I kept them . I learned that sometimes the notes from one class can benefit you in a more challenging class or when the professor asks the students to recall what was taught in a previous class. I think students should keep their notes in a file and refer to them when necessary!

I kept the notes of stuff from my major. I threw the rest of the notes out that weren't replated.
I had a teacher in high school that taught American history from using the book, and her college notes from when she took the class.

I've kept all my books but tossed all my notes.
What are you taking in graduate school?

I kept all of my notes from my journalism classes... but donated my other notebooks to my chapter. In our study room we have a huge case where sisters can leave their notebooks in the appropriate subject so that sisters can take them whenever they need them.

I have a good amount of the notes from my Elem. Educ. classes saved, English class notes not so much. Mostly because I won't be using Chaucer or the likes so much as a Elem. teacher.
I usually kept papers that I wrote for classes a full semester after the class just in case...
If our chapter file was more in order and updated I would have donated...

After high school, I saved many of my old notebooks from my Spanish, Latin, AP bio and math classes just in case I'd need them in the future. I just graduated from college, and finally threw them away since I never used them and they were just taking up space in my room. I did keep notebooks and some text books from my major in case I needed to refer to them in the future. I donated some notebooks in my other classes to my chapter's files, but some of them were so illegible, I just tossed them.

I've kept a TON of my notes...and more so my projects. Especially since I'm a Public Relations major, it's nice to reflect back on projects and see how I can incorporate the stuff into new ideas.

I go through notes/handouts at the end of the semester and discard busywork but tend to keep everything else (unless I HATED the class, then it feels great tearing pages out...) In classes that I really liked (i.e. accounting) or classes that were way hard (math), I save almost everything. It's all sitting in my parent's garage right now...but when I graduate I have no idea what I'll do with it...maybe see if people at SC want the SC part and if people at ASU want that part, or even save it for if I get an MBA!

i am a pack rat, but believe it or not, i have actually tossed out most of my notes. after graduating from college, i tossed out almost everything from h.s. there were a few things that i wanted to save because they were origional stories, etc. from college, i kept only the notes from my major, in classes that related to my field of study. i also kept books from my major and minor, all of my literature books (i took lots of lit classes), and classes that were particularly interesting to me. i didn't really take notes in grad school, but i kept all of my books. i am trying to figure out how to organize notes and p.p. presentations from confrences i have gone to since starting in the real world!
