That is the beauty of our organization, that we can be elite and down to earth at the same time. I met a soror over the phone after I got her transfer information from nationals. She wanted to hook up but I was on my way to a NPHC function and then my company holiday party. I invited her to come hang out with me at the NPHC function which was less stuffy. We vibed so cool that she came with me to my company party after all. My co-workers thought we had known each other for years not just a few hours. And even though I occasionally tease her about going to a college with more cows than students, that initial sisterhood is tight three years later.

*warm and fuzzy* story
OK, Sorors -- here I go again...
I told yall about the Soror I "found" last year this time who has a daughter in the Brownie troop with my daughter. Last Saturday at our end of the year trip I was wearing my T-shirt and "found" another Soror! Her daughter was new to the Girl Scouts this year and made friends with my daughter. I had been on outings and had seen this Soror since last September. Our daughters are very close. When she saw my T-shirt she told me that she pledged at Morgan State in 1980. The other Soror from last year walked up and I introduced her.
A few minutes later....
We were getting ready to go on our trip and I was parking my van so I could get on the bus and I heard someone singing our hymn. There was another Soror standing on the lot whom I don't even know who said, "Hey Soror, I see your T-shirt!" and I started singing with her.
All of this took place on the parking lot at the First Baptist of Glenarden, Maryland. I just wanted you all to know that the Brownies of Girl Scout Troop 1727 has about 15 mothers and 3 of them are Sorors

Sorhor Bluereign,
Thanks for sharing that bit of information! Wow! The only thing that I can say is "God how I love this sisterhood."

When I 1st became a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. I used to pondered this question of: why can't our organization be larger and then I attended an event with all sororities present. That quickly changed my mind. Our sorors (whether we knew them or not) were all across the room eeyiping, hugging and getting to know each other. The other sororities didn't seem to be as unified. The young did not speak with the old and they seemed to separate themselves. I was so proud to be a SIGMA at that moment! Yup, they saw what real sisterhood was that day! It was not the numbers (there were alot of the other sororities there) but the quality of the person shined through!
