Question

Rush for us is pretty informal I was thinking about wearing a peasant flowery top and jeans for the first round which is from 9am to 9pm. Does that sound to casual or trendy???

Wear whatever will give off the best impression of you as well as what is comfortable enough for you to wear all day.

That does sound pretty casual. I wouldn't tell you to definitely wear jeans unless you know that lots of other rushees will be wearing them, too. Be yourself, but don't pigeonhole yourself as the "hippie girl" by wearing an outfit you're not sure about. If you have to question whether it is appropriate or not, it's probably safest to wear something else. You usually can't go wrong by dressing up a little bit... MUCH better to be a tad overdressed than too casual. Too casual can be interpreted as being disrespectful or just not caring about how you present yourself.

Obviously, I don't know you or your college, or what clothes are "normal" for rush there, but these are just some things to consider.

Don't get me wrong, clothes aren't the most important thing during rush, but they do count for something when people have to make snap judgements, as they unfortunately do during rush week.

Good luck!!

Good Luck!

I agree with twinstars, just dress the way you feel most comfortable, but also gives a good first impression!

Its winter, in PA I would think that jeans are OK for open house. Check with your Rho Chi and girls in your rush group ut being from the NE I know some campuses where you can wear jeans at every round except pref. Some schools have very casual rushes especially in the winter when you are hiking around int he freezing cold!!

Good luck and keep us posted.

Whiteroses,
Hello from another lehigh valley student! I'm a student at Muhlenberg and if Lehigh's rush is anything like ours, jeans are fine. At Muhlenberg we do fall rush and this year I noticed people wearing jeans, athletic clothes (if they just came from practice), whatever on the first two days. It wasn't until the third day (skit day) that I even noticed what people were wearing.

As I recall, all of the fraternities and sororities at lehigh are on the side of that big hill? Am I correct? I've only been to lehigh once before.

Good luck with rush! I once met two Lehigh sorority girls on a greyhound bus from Allentown to NYC. They were great girls. I wish I could remember what group they were from.
