These people are giving you some very valid advice about your poor communication skills.
This all seems really weird to me like someone knows who a few Kappas are and is trying to figure out a way to write a rec for herself by using their information.

This never occurred to me... but this guess makes far more sense than the OP's posts!! Nothing about either of her threads made a lot of sense. The total lack of information and the friend and the friend of another friend has been just too ridiculous to believe.

Oh, Greekchat has seen several of those PNMs. What they don't realize is that very often, the person who wrote the rec gets called.

You know, the tip off should have been the initiation date question. It's on our badges.

2. To make sure the author is still a member in good standing. (I have seen Recs written by women whose membership had been cancelled. I have also seen legacy claims that turned out mom's membership was cancelled.)
3. A chapter should send thank you notes to all Rec writers, thus the need for the author addresses.
Semi-side Note: Wouldn't it be nice to have an Inat'l online Rec form that would not only send an electronic copy to the chapter in question, but would also do the member in good standing verification, & update the Inat'l membership contact info data base?

RE the side note. Other groups don't have this option yet? Huh, that sucks. If I'm not mistaken, I think this is how Theta prefers our Recs nowadays.

I thin we can all send an electronic one but am not aware that the software "vets" the person. Theta's does that?

Really? I usually hand write mine because the form is in Word format and it "moves" but it can be done.

Wouldn't logging into your member only section to send the online rec be the vetting process? As soon as I log into Theta's site it correctly lists me as an alumna in good standing, as well as the position that I hold. That (as well as other information about me) auto-populates onto the online rec.

No because you don't fill it out there - just download it. And I can send it to anyone who can send it to anyone. It's just a form floating out there in cyberspace. The system just vets me to get the form but not when I fill it out, sign it and email it to the chapter. It's just a .docx by then.
