If it was teenagers, each of the kids' boyfriend/girlfriend having a makeout session on stage in front of the school, would THAT be ok? Parents would be storming the school with pitchforks. Beyond the public humiliation being experienced by all involved, the entire school should have to take a class on decision making skills. There is no variation of this scenario that is acceptable and somebody should have had the balls to say "what? You want me to get blindfolded and kiss someone I may or may not know? Has this person been tested for disease? Will I be personally embarrassed after the fact? Is there a purpose to this little activity?" NOBODY thought to question or hesitate?

Yes.
A teen kissing a significant other is not the same as that person tonguing his/her mom or dad.

She's saying that the parents (probably some of the same ones who agreed to this) would have pitched a huge bitch about that because it would lead to OMG TEH TEENS SEX.
This is like the flip side of the Silver Ring Thing where you have a whole (expensive) dance dedicated to the fact that girls aren't having sex and are sharing that fact with their dads - who then slow dance with them. Ew.
(Speaking of Family Guy, I almost referred to this as the Opal Ring Crusade and then remembered that was the FG version.)

In my experience, the parents of jocks in high schools were very aware of the fact that their children were (at the very least) kissing.
Also, kissing booths were not uncommon at homecoming festivities and school carnivals.

Texas =/= Minnesota
Remember, this is the state that basically puts you in stocks in the public square if you smoke a cigarette. Their priorities are a mite effed up.

And nothing says progressive like small-town Texas
My point was that, unless we're talking about Salt Lake City High, I'm sure parents know that hormones run rampant in high school. Kissing significant others would not make me cringe like kissing parents did.

What does a child-parent kissing game have to do with what you all are talking about?
Regardless of different beliefs regarding teenagers kissing other teenagers, a parent-child kissing game is gross.

DubaiSis asked if any variation of a "public kissing game" was acceptable. We commented on child-parent and child-child.
How is that not related?

Goodness gracious, knight_shadow, the world knows that you were simply responding to DuBai's question.
You replied that it is not the same thing as a parent-child (or adult-child) kissing game. That is what I am saying. The acceptability of this "kissing game" has absolutely nothing to do with whether the parents would be mad if this was a teenager-teenager kissing game.

I still don't see how you get a group of grown people to think this is OK. I would think that the suggestion might be made by one misguided creep and then everyone in earshot would then say, "Do WHAT?! Uh, no. What's wrong with you?"
It would be interesting (and probably disconcerting) to hear how they made the decision and got the buy in to have this activity at the pep rally.
