I'd be happy to help you with data entry on that one if you put it on Google docs. Just PM me.

The formatting was different with Auburn and OSU. When I copied and pasted the list for Auburn, it showed up as one NM per line, but with all her info in one cell so I still had to type it all into separate cells. OSU I couldn't paste into excel, so I copied and pasted into word and copied from there.
Wonderful, i'll count you in.

I'm trying to remember if Bama did alphabetically or by chapter last year…hmm. It's probably still online…
ETA: And here is last year's, which was by chapter…hope they do it the same way this year.

Can multiple users update a google doc at the same time?

According to this, yes. (I'm actually kinda surprised by how many people can edit at once. 50 people for a spreadsheet. )

Could have been quicker under the circumstances, and it's also possible that someone at UA News does the organizing of the names by each group, or that UA's Panhellenic Association simply sends them a spreadsheet with all the names, cities, and groups, and UA News only has to sort it by group that way.
I'm mainly going by the fact that last year, and every year back to 2005, UA News has posted it by chapter.

Attn: Violetpretty. Empty your inbox! I have put the Bama data for ZTA and Pi Phi into a spread sheet, ready to upload to your master.
And in case anyone is interested in the data so far, ZTA had 43.68% from AL, 80.46% from the south including AL, 16 states represented and 1 foreign country.
Pi Phi has 34.88% from AL, 79.07% from the south, 19 states represented and 1 foreign country.
So in 2 out of 2 chapters so far, they pledged more OOS than in state by a pretty substantial margin. And in 2 out of 2 they took a foreign student. I can't imagine THAT statistic holding up for long!

While it is very positive, I agree that is not the norm for Bama. 40 Alpha Gams were from OOS (84 New Members); one from Long Island, one from Connecticut, 1 from California. Most others were from the south.

Bama has been getting masses of OOS students because it's so hard to get into Texas and Georgia now and lots of kids want the big university experience. This has also benefited Auburn, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. Many of us have watched the big changes in new member distribution developing over recent years due to this.

I'd put Florida on this list too. When I was in HS, the only girls who went to Auburn and Alabama were those who had family ties. Now, I'm seeing a lot more South Florida women on Alabama and Auburn's bid lists because FSU and UF aren't the safeties they were before Bright Futures.

I only noticed because I knew everyone made quota (62) and you list had them as 61. What an undertaking you took on with your list and it was interesting to see the breakdown of IS vs OOS!
Also, Auburn is also drawing in more South Florida students because of their wonderful scholarship programs - full ride for the students that began last fall with the required stats. They get a smaller school than FSU, UF or UCF with a great student body!

True, but one thing I noticed about Auburn was the few number of out of state new members in my Chapter and all were from adjacent states.

There are several sororities at AU--KD and AGD come to mind--that have traditionally taken mostly Alabama girls.

I think that it's only a matter of more time before this carries over to both Kentucky and Tennessee - while both are "less traditionally SEC universities" (notice the quotation marks, emphasis is mine) than those listed on Carnation's post, they are still -- SEC universities.

I found myself wondering if the out of state girls were legacies.
Generally, I've been delighted about the Alpha Gam results on a personal level: an awesome girl I know went Alpha Gam at Bama, and a couple of awesome girls I know went Alpha Gam at UGA.
