I would get involved, but tread gently. I could see you trying to jump in and be super helpful to make up for any prior transgressions and have it seen as you trying to take over, or that you're better at it than the others.

If most of the gals you had these issues with are still collegiates, it might be worth waiting a year or two to get involved with the collegiate chapter, but that's not the same as getting involved with the alumnae chapter. The 40 year old members are not going to care about some fight you got in over a boy or who got to be homecoming chair or whatever.

^^^ Exactly.

In my experience, the alumnae helping the collegiate chapter tend to be recent graduates. By getting involved with chapter support activities, you're bound to run across the sisters you had conflict with from your collegiate days. However, if an alumnae chapter is available in your area you'll be exposed to many sisters who are not carrying a grudge from the old days. They may all be from your collegiate chapter but they'll span many years from that chapter and will have many different perspectives. Go ahead and help with the collegiate chapter to show your rededication to DDD, but I would put more energy into the alumnae chapter if I were you. That's where you'll be able to feel those sisterhood bonds that you're looking for.

Good luck!

Thank you. I think that's what I'm going to do. I'll pass on helping with recruitment this year as it will already be filled with high stress levels from everyone involved. On the other hand, our alumni get together for dinners, art walks and to usually just hang out so I will most likely stick to that for now.
