Question: would it be "important" to make note of this on the recruitment application? For example, "I graduated in XXXX so am a freshman in age" or something of the sort? I am asking b/c I know from these boards how important class standing is in the majority of recruitments.

I know that the recommendation form I have filled out has a DOB spot, as well as a year of graduation from HS. Maybe someone who's recently completed recruitment can speak to what the online app looks like?

Mistakes get made (I know an active whose GPA was mistakenly reported by Panhellenic -gah! with deleterious effects on her recruitment) and one would hope that for this PNM, entering college as a freshman in age but with advanced academic standing, there would be no harm to her recruitment opportunities.* Still, you never know.

*I've rewritten this sentence multiple times and it is still unwieldy. Darn.

DoB isn't particularly helpful in indicating whether someone's a freshman or not, even during competitive recruitment.

I have looked at the online application several times in the last couple of days. We are in the middle of recruitment right now. Our school ask for DOB, HS year of graduation, year in college, how many college credits and age. Since there is no separate quota at our school we look at the graduation year from HS to figure out what class they would fit in.

My point, I think, was that DOB isn't really helpful, yet the graduation date would be. Only having a high school GPA and no college GPA could help too.

I mean you can guess that the average freshman is 18 but 17 or 19 is pretty common and 20 or 16 much more unusual but within the realm of possibility. (Presuming a "traditional" college experience and the population likely to sign up for recruitment.) And that's not getting into the cut off dates for school registration varying markedly from district to district. So, in short, DOB wouldn't help so much determining a one year difference in class standing.
