Disagree with the statement about Sonic being better than Whataburger, but I have to say that both of them are terrible. Hell, in my mind, McDonald's trumps both of them.

Basically, don't eat the fast food. Not worth it. There IS a really good BBQ place called Pok-e-Jo's.. there's one on Parmer and another somewhere else, but I always enjoy their food. Oh, and Iron Works BBQ in downtown Austin is like, the epitome of southern BBQ goodness, I swear.

Just clicked on this, for whatever silly reason...But we have been to Austin for an athletic event. Had a good time...went to Stubbs, which was good. And Z Tejas, which was excellent.

Enjoyed the Texas hospitality....even though we were wearing our USC hats.

Fight on.

my mouth is watering thinking of Chuy's. mmmmmmm...good tex/mex and great margaritas... *drool*
also, it IS indeed a drive, but if Mr.APhi enjoys BBQ, I really would recommend making the trip out to The Salt Lick. It's quite an experience. Also, it's BYOB, which just seems so fitting. And it's kind of pretty to see a little of the countryside.
My only problems with Austin are 1). No veterinary medicine school, so no grad school op for me, and 2). no active GPB collegiate chapter to advise.
Have a fun trip & try to stay cool!
