Do Rho Chi's (or Sigma Rho Gamma's or whatever you want to call the sorority recruitment guides) only participate in formal rush? Or would one also get a PX for informal recruitment?
Sorry, I'm totally new to this entire process.
Thanks!

Sorority recruitment counselors/guides are active during formal recruitment. During the informal process, oft times referred to as COB/COR (continuous open bidding and recruitment, respectively), they are not active. COB/COR is far less structured, hence the terming of it being informal, and does not require sorority recruitment counselors/guides. Given, this has been my experience, but I would be safe to say that this is how it is at the majority of schools.

I remember when I went through it was SO hard to guess! But it is one of the most exciting (and one of my favorite!) moments during Rush when all the Rho Chis go back to their own chapters.
We got a little bit screwed in Fall 2003 when one of the Rho Chis revealed herself after Preference.....to OUR legacy whose sister was (and still is) active in the Chapter and the Legacy ended up going to XYZ and now regrets it.

I was a rho chi at the University of Louisville, but we now have to refer ourselves as "rho gamma" because there was a big fluff on rho chi with a pharmaceuitcal frat and they said they would sue the schools who continued to use rho chi. Really silly if you ask me. I LOVED BEING A RHO GAMMA!
It was a very rewarding experience.

I was a Gamma Chi (greek counselor) at UNA and LOVED IT!!! My group of girls were torn when they tried to figure out which I was a member of. Some knew, some didn't......it was fun to try to fool them.....

Man, I stole so many Rho Chi's little orange hats. I dont know if they wear them at other schools, but at UF they walked around with these orange hats on so you knew who was a Rho Chi. I had like 6 of them, the girls got so pissed.

When I was a Rho Chi (my school calls it that), all of the girls who went through recruitment either already had friends or housemates who were in sororities. This meant that at least one- three people knew what sorority the VP of Recruitment and Rho Chis were from. They were really respectful and didn't tell other PNM's about it. But during Rho Chi revealing when we all switched letters to try to fool them, of course none of them believed us. My school does rush a lil differently than most other schools, so we use Rho Chis for both formal and informal rush.

I think my cover was blown yesterday at Open House. At my house, one of the girls in my group said to a sister that she remembered me coming up to her table at Max + Ermas during our fundraiser (and of course I was wearing letters, I didn't even know i was a rho chi). I about choked on my soda! But I think she'll keep it quiet, she's friends with a lot of girls in my house (and secretly, I REALLY wanna pledge her!)
