Because what they might be saying is, "Even if you don't dance, how about standing on the dance floor, somewhat holding me while swaying to the music for a while?" It's an
invitation to get to know said lady, even if you say, "I don't dance, but why don't I get you a drink (why don't you sit down for a while, or whatever)?" in response.
Besides, most women realize that the majority of men either can't or don't dance well in the first place.
