i am not even going to pretend to be able to address which of the groups you should look into because i am very unfamiliar with the nphc process.
if your main worry is about not having business attire, you should see if your roommate or neighbors have something for you to borrow. you could wear a nice pair of black pants and a nice top. if you don't have a good pair of black pants, i highly suggest buying a pair. even in college, you will get lots of use out of them.
if you are truly worried about going alone, maybe someone you know is going too. talk to your friends. you may be surprised that others had already planned to go. if not, don't feel badly about going alone. there will be plenty of people to talk to. the women of the chapter are interested in getting to know each prospective member. even if you go with a friend, they will want to talk to you...not have your friend talk for you.
