I've recently been hearing some discussion over these terms and I'd like to hear from my GC friends...

What connotations are attached to these terms?
Why are they often used interchangeably?
And, anything else you want to say!!

Hmmmm...I never really gave this much thought and this is my culture!

Some people think "hispanic" is disrespectful because it does not honor one's heritage. I, being Puerto Rican, don't find being called hispanic disrespectful, along with my family and friends. The phrases I don't like, however, is "Latino Peoples" or "Latin American." I am hispanic, Puerto Rican, or a latina.

I guess it also has to do with where you are from and the way you were raised.

(Sorry if what I am saying doesn't really make sense...lol...it's getting pretty late!)
