The principal of my children's school knows how to prevent it.. a quote from her first day of school letter to parents:

"We encourage you to continue to volunteer at the school but please make sure that if you enter the building during school hours, you go to the office and get a visitor pass. With recent events in Russia, we want to ensure our children's safety."

So, you refuse hall passes to the terrorists and you have no problem...

This woman has a PhD?

That's hilarious.

I was a sub in a suburb school system last year -- one of the top ones in the state. I was RARELY asked for a hall pass. Maybe just once or twice.

Boy is that true. Our kids went to one of the top schools in Colorado, and the parents, like us, who volunteered for specific departments who had their own wings in the building rarely checked in with the office.

In reality though, having armed cops (we did -- so did Columbine), metal detectors, etc. in buildings isn't going to stop thirty heavily armed terrorists. Even a total lockdown would only slow a group like that down a few seconds.
