Some years ago, I worked at a Non-profit womens self help group and 95% of the staff were women. Well, A new co-worker came to work wearing a pink top with a green blazer. The pink & green craze had not caught on back then so if you were wearing the combination, it was generally assumed you were an AKA. So I asked the woman (a black woman), "You're an AKA?" Her reply ""Yes, I'm also known as ME!" So I smiled and said "Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.? When did you cross?" The look she gave me was priceless. "Ummm, I'm not in a sorority."

Yeah...All righty then....

one of friends in another sorority told me how one of her kids she watches asked what "triangle x" was since she was wearing a Delta Chi shirt (it is her boyfriends fraterity)..i thought that was sooo cute!!

then we went on to try some of the other greek orgs on campus as if a kid was saying it...turns out we think little kids would say Chi Omega would be "x horseshoe" and AOII would be "A O table" lol!

my younger sister is a freshman in college, but doesn't know the greek alphabet, so when i was asking her what sororities she has on campus, she actually said, x horseshoe for chio when trying to describe it.

luckily as a ZTA, i don't really get funny stares for my letters.

Good thread!

Brings back memories of spring break in Daytona FL (looooong ago) and a cute but very drunk non-greek boy said "Hey, that says Triangle Circle Square" thought that was pretty funny and asute, albeit incoherent.

This reminds me of the ebay seller who labeled an ATO badge, "Alfa Tau Ohm".
